Hks exhaust removing emissions shield?

Ok so for this exhaust I know we have to remove that black shield that is in the way on the passenger side muffler.

My question is has anyone seen melting or an adverse effects of doing this? I mean those are fuel lines! Sounds dangerous to me no?

No. I have not had a bit of problem. However you can actually modify the metal shield just a bit to give the exhaust the necessary clearance. That's what I did later. The shield only conflicts with the exhaust slightly and a small mod gained me about 3/4" of clearance

what sort of mod did you do to the shield. I have a set on the way, and it would be nice to not have to re-engineer anything.

Can someone confirm and tell me.

I would like to know if i can put this shield back on, with the exhaust already installed?

Is the exhaust in the way in such that i cant screw this back in?

I wanted to put the exhaust on first then slowly mod this piece to put back on.

You can put the metal box back on without messing with the exhaust after it's installed. It really doesn't conflict that much.

yeah we ended up taking it off and using a cutting wheel to cut the corner off the black shield. the previous owner left it on and it left a black mark on the can and made a hideous rattling noise. after we cut the corner off all was good! bent a little silver panel back for extra clearance and the exhaust is awesome.
