Takeda Short Ram Intake installed, making a weird noise

Hello friends :) I just installed Takeda intake and it is making really annoying sound! As you can see in the video, it makes that weird whistle noise the whole time, even when I'm driving, and turn off the engine. It is very annoying!! I make sure checked everything if things are loosen or if MAF sensors are loosen but everything is perfect! (btw, installation was such a pain in the ***. I don't know if it's only me but omg nothing fits!!! everything I had to force to put together, silicone piece that connects the throttle body spacers and the intake was so short that I had to force it so hard, then when I tried to tightened up the hose clamps, silicone would fail to hold together because takeda put so much grease!! Tightening up the filter also was pain in the ***, it has no some kind of restriction to stop filter at the certain point, it was just like you tight up the filter where ever you want to..-_- plus too much grease again... The MAF sensor port was located on the bottom of the intake so I had a hard time plunging the wire in...so stupid...THE WORST intake ever you can ever get! Very cheap quality! My intake didn't even come with those red decals on the pipe as you can see in most of Google images of Takeda intakes...) I never got CEL so far...So what's the problem??!! Thanks :tiphat:

Holy crap that's annoying, does it get louder when you give it gas? Are you SURE it's the intakes???

dudesky 11-04-2012 11:41 PM

100% SURE!! it is from the intake! NEVER had this problem before when I had stocks on. Possible vacuum leak? But no leak! I checked everything! T^T

dudesky 11-04-2012 11:42 PM

It stays same like that either I gas it or not T^T so annoying

DEpointfive0 11-04-2012 11:45 PM

It looks like you turn off the car and the sound emanates for 3 seconds or so... Shoot me a text (310)eight nine three-4207, lets get this resolved

DEpointfive0 11-04-2012 11:46 PM

Jeezus that's a weird sound... i have a feeling you bumped or messed something else up... I really forgot from my install but does the 370 have the baffle system on the intake?

dudesky 11-04-2012 11:51 PM

Ok thanks! I will shoot the text after detail observation tomorrow because I'm going to go to sleep now haha! Thanks anyway! I'm going to keep look for the solution tomorrow

Sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere. I know you said you checked everything, but I'd double check again one more time just to make sure all the clamps are on and where they're supposed to be. Also check the lines that weren't included in the install, but might have gotten bumped loose from the installation, as complicated as you make it sound, something might have been nudged loose just from fighting the intake. But that is not normal. However when revving, it sounds good.

Thanks for the write up. Yes, I always thought it would be the vacuum leak...

Man that is weird... But it sounds like it's coming from the front of the bay, and not the back, which would remove vacuum lines... Maybe check in see if something is rubbing on a belt or something?

Another idea would be (and you're gonna hate this) but completely go back to stock now, and then see if the noise is still there... If it is, you have a problem somewhere with your engine, if it isn't you know it is the intakes...

Then if it isn't there, reinstall everything and see if it comes back. Yes, this is completely labor intensive, but it's the other troubleshooting process I can think of...
