Thanks, that clears it up....I might want the carbon mufflers if I need to get some weight out of my rear, but I don't want to make any significant changes to weight distribution (I am a Track Geek). My next decision is 18" or no resonators at all....hmmm...Just need to find out some stuff about drone and loudness

If your worried at all about Drone/Loudness, then 18" res would be a good choice to minimize both. And it will help give it that distinct tone that just sounds good to the ears

I'm not actually worried about too loud as much as too quiet. I want the FI to be loud cause I take it out on tracks where people could care less about quiet exhausts. The only thing is that on cruises and normal driving, I don't want drone. The exhaust sound will be fine on cruising, but an annoying drone could annoy me...I just need to find a good compromise...Anyone running no resonators here????

I can't get over the how raspy the 12" resonators sound in this vid . . .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYyis21KrgE

Versus this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zy-Oa-kJThI

I've got the 12" w/ CF mufflers on order, and I already have the LTH. I really really don't want it to sound like the car in the first vid. But if it sounds like the car in the second vid, then I'm all for it. Ugh!!!!

XwChriswX 06-09-2010 01:43 PM

I want LTH's so I know I'll need 18" res to counteract the open headers... I just dunno if I wanna do SS cans for better muffling action, or the CF ones since my Z is black and all... Decisions Decisions lol

Ben - both vids are the same, seems like. I think you're just trying to say that you don't like the 1st car's sound but you like the 2nd.

That is how my exhaust sounds with LTH and Berk exhaust (video one), I was thinking of jumping to F.I. if it sounded like the second video but now I am not sure.

The first car has rasp once he hits about 3500RPMs while the second video there is zero rasp throughout.

Yeah, I can tell the different.

I was just telling Semtex that to me, both videos were the same, from start to finish. In other words, there might have been some technical error or difficulties in uploading the vids.

maybe SeeYaBud86 can chime in on this...
Does your car sound like that in person or just on that video?

Look again. I originally posted the same vid twice by mistake, but I corrected it.

dlmartin81 06-09-2010 02:18 PM

^ Ah yes. The second vid is Tony's. Yeah, it sounds sick on that one.

Well, I don't think the 18" is a whole lot quieter that the 12" but it does eliminate most of the rasp, as most say....I don't know by experience, obviously. So perhaps you should upgrade to the 18" to be on the safe side.

For instance, if you take a look at M4A1's 'Dragon' videos (a few pages back), you'll see that it's still plenty loud but it's smooth sounding throughout. Keep in mind that he still has stock cats and headers.

I thought the original car had 12" resonators?

Youtube video 370z_header, with the car at night (I believe it is a black car).
The white 370z with s-tune kit is also a 12" resonator?
