Z1 Motorsports HFC?

Had time to shoot an e-mail over to Z1 as I am looking to get some HFCs. While I wait for the e-mail back, anyone have these installed on their Z's? Just wanted some feedback on response, quality, etc.

Also any #s posted/tested on hp/torque gains for these? checked the website was no where to be found, appreciate the feedback! :tiphat:

These now come with upgraded metal 3 bolt gaskets. I would speak to the other questions you asked but I would have to say that my opinion wouldn't be completely objective. ;)

good to know and :icon17: Its alright the more info the better, I already e-mailed John over at Z1, and he pretty much answered these questions, but any experience with these on your car or a customers car, their experience etc I don't mind you sharing. If everything works out well I should be giving you guys a ring by the end of this week for a shipment.

I don't know if it applies anymore but I'm sure you've heard of the "hiss" that anything besides the OE cats produces. You probably won't get it as badly with HFC's versus (un)resonated test pipes.

Generally speaking, test pipes have shown gains roughly around 5-8 horsepower and 5-7 torques (or perhaps more torques...). HFC's should probably make just slightly less.

Yes i know about the hiss, which I heard is more with the test pipes. But really less than 5-8? Thought it would be more, like 12-14 range, thats what I have heard most of these give, anyways thanks for the input. :tiphat:

I think if you do HFC/TP as the first breather mod, it does indeed give that much wheel horsepower. Doing them after Intakes or Exhaust will give less - they don't add together like a linear equation.

Is that right? Never knew, anyways Im sure freeing up the cats will still give me a performance bump, so I think Ill still go with it. I never thought of cats back when I was doing intake and exhaust, but since now my current setup is boring me I need to change it up!

You will always feel gains with a cat-replacement, whether it be HFCs or test pipes. You don't need to go to a dyno for you to feel your *** get just a bit more planted into your seat.

10+ horsepower? Definitely if test pipes are your only change.

Dont want to still the thread but really any difference between Z1 HFC and say Berk HFC?? (besides price).

daisuke149 09-06-2012 08:34 AM

kevr6 might be able to anwer the berk vs z1 hfc question. He had berks and switched to the z1 ones.

Just put in my order for the Z1 HFC's should be here sometime next week.:driving:

I have had the Z1 HFC on my z for about 2 months now with zero complaints. Mine do not have the support bracket in the middle pictured in your photo but seem very sturdy and I was impressed with the weld quality so I'm really not worried about it. I have ordered from Z1 many times and always recieved top both quality. I even forgot to tighten one of the spare wideband sensor bung plugs which caused it to blow out on the way home. Completely my fault but Z1 was nice enough to send me a new one with the fog light I ordered a few weeks later

nabenson 09-13-2012 09:56 AM

I have had mine for about 6 months / 5k miles. I originally was going to order the Berk HFC, but they were on backorder and z1 suggested theirs. It was less expensive and available.

The quality was as good as you could expect (it looks well-made, nice welds, etc.). I had a shop install them so I can speak to fitment but they said they didn't have any trouble.

On a stock Nismo exhaust it got a tiny bit louder, and added just a bit of rasp. The power difference was immediate and noticeable.
