Nice exhausts for a new 370z owner?

Hi, i just got a new 2012 370z and started looking into getting an exhaust. I want to hear your suggestions on what I should get that's not top of the line, but good for a first exhaust.

Welcome to the forum!

There are a ton of posts in the intake/exhaust section of this forum. There's even a sticky that has sound clips. Your best best is going to be to spend some time in that area and read through some of the other threads that are about exactly this same topic.

^^ this is very good advice.

My personal opinion is to go with Fast Intentions. They are an amazing company with amazing customer service that produces an amazing exhaust that sounds amazing. Get the point? :) seriously though, I would say that more than half the people on this forum would immediately tell you to go with FI. Their exhausts are the best quality, they sound SWEET (you can watch my videos to hear it) and Tony the manager is a stand up business man. You will be seriously hard pressed to find a better value.

I second the recommendation for a Fast Intentions exhaust, im also a large fan of the MXP exhaust. Cat backs give you the best power, short tails/axel backs are mainly for sound unless you upgrade the rest of the system too (basically turn it into a cat back). So you have to decide what you want, then after that you can start looking into Headers (long tube or standard), test pipes or high flow cats. If youre looking to go that far into it.

Optimally, youre going to want to hit some local car meets and hear what others have. videos are great but theres nothing like hearing them in person. Thats the best way to get a real feel for the sound you want.

There's also the appearance aspect, some people like side by side canisters tucked up in the stock location. I was one of them, i hated that split canister look like the fast intentions had when i first saw them, now i love it, and i basically got rid of my MXP for the FI just for the look of the exhaust and a slight change in exhaust note.

Thanks guys, yeah I'm still new to this forum so I'm not really sure where to look, but I'll look around some more when i get the chance.

Which one do you recommend for a good sound?

Romulus1 08-30-2012 04:01 PM

http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...data-base.html

that would be the section you want to look for sound clips, you can also check to for sale section for people selling, some include sound clips with their sale thread. Check to see what theyre coupled with, my MXP clip in my thread has Motordyne ART Pipes with it. Sounds sick

As far as recommending an exhaust for sound, Fast Intentions got a nice deep sound, MXP slightly higher but deep tone, Powerhouse amuse has a sweet tone, Invidia is great and more on the cheaper side too, all these are Cat backs so you'll get better performance as well as nice sound from all these

niiice, thanks I'll check it out!

also, a price range would greatly improve how much we could help

well, most everyone is going to tell you to get Fast Intentions (F.I.)

the best advice id say is do your research. take your time, dont jump the gun. cause theres alot of exhausts for our car.

i myself went wit the tanabe catback, and then later on purchased a motordyne y-pipe to further increse the sound and power.

I'm willing to spend around $1000 maybe a little more, just depends if I'm willing to wait and save some more.

tonythetiger 08-30-2012 05:42 PM

I would also look around the "Parts for Sale" section. You might be able to save a ton on a slightly used aftermarket exhaust.

Fast Intentions CBE w/ 12" resonators vs. the stock exhaust. I couldn't be happier with how it sounds... although I wouldn't mind some HFCs. :)

Literally just got done installing my fast intentions high flow cats and invidia gemini exhaust a half hour ago. I couldn't be happier! Not raspy, no hissing sound on decel (okay, barely audible hissing sound), and really quality product for a great price. Do your research, there are plenty of good threads on here. Good luck!

Instead of a first exhaust... Go for the only exhaust! :happydance:
