newbie with exhaust question

sorry guys but when it comes to exhaust i'm a complete rookie.

i did search you tube like has been said. and came across a 370 with AAM short
tails. so is that a complete exhaust system. and just what does it consist of.

and what would it cost to go that way. sorry if this a dumb xss question
but i got to find out some how............

I think thats just a rear section or something not a full Cat Back. There is a full thread on this forum discussing exhaust systems with sound clips check it out.

It's an axel back.

A muffler delete.

red6spd 08-19-2012 09:39 PM

Save your money and get a proper CBE.

A full cat back isn't necessary if he's only interested in the exhaust note.

Don't get offended so easy, i was just saying.

Anyways, if you are going for sound i dont see why you would spend any more on a catback.

AAM Short tails is basically just the from the tips about 2 feet back. Just a muffler delete. They will get you no power gains, but make your car extremely loud and possibly obnoxious.:ughdance:

OP,

the short tail is a great way to bring out the z note of your engine. It only replaces the rear muffler, with little to no power gains. Saves a lot of weight, direct bolt on, great sound, without the price tag of a full catback

I've heard this set up on many cars, and it really is not loud. Seeing that you're in the market for exhaust, it looks like you want something louder than stock. This set up can get loud if mixed with hfc/test pipes and/or upgraded y-pipe/mid pipe, only because at this point you've deleted your muffler or main source of sound control

Hope this helps
