Yeah I thought it was a risk with headers but not cats. Then someone today said "good luck with your O2 sensors" or something to that effect when I mentioned the HFCs.

Think what happens to the O2 sensors that go bad after an install is. That they didn't remove the O2 sensors before trying to remove the cats. And with using an impact gun on the bolts that hold the cats on. The vibrations from the impact gun kills the O2 sensors. IMO I have over 4,000 miles on my LTH's. Never had a code or anything bad happened. I removed my O2 sensors first before trying to remove anything else.

I'll make sure I have a long talk with the shop before they attempt this. Can't be rocket science...

Thanks for the advice though.

depends on where you are looking from. in a car behind the z u can see it from a distance but just walking around all you see is the tips anyways since its such a low car lol or from off at a distance. honestly you should base your decision on sound not looks.

If that were the case then why offer 2 styles? It's for looks. I'm still looking for a well lit picture of the CF version. It's the difference between ordering this unit or the HKS.

Great advice. When installing cats/test pipes/headers, etc. DO NOT use an impact gun to remove the bolts or even break the torque loose. That vibration will destroy the O2 sensor for sure!

If anyone has any questions on any of this, please do not hesitate to call me directly.

Thanks, Tony

A few things...

1) The CF option is not just for looks. It has a definite change it sound (for the better).

2) Having owned both, the quality of the FI kit is orders of magnitude higher. It's hard to describe until you see it in person. Not to say that the HKS isn't a good unit, but everything I have seen from FI is a work of art. Also, aesthetically I prefer the baffled look of the FI tips as opposed to the tin cans on the HKS.

3) Call up HKS if you need support/questions/etc, then call Tony. Enough Said.

Lastly...support the community vendors! They certainly support us.

i can take pictures of my CF later for you if needed. but the sound between the CF and SS should be the majority of the decision. maybe a 75/25 split between thoughts on sound then looks respectively. personally i love the CF look under my blue Z and then it just worked out perfectly since i wanted the exotic sound and thats what the CF offers over the SS.

worst case call Tony he's the best. he will talk you through any issues or questions you may have. or PM me directly. i will help anyone as much as i can.

If the HKS was cheaper, I would've order that instead of F.I. Don't take this the wrong way though. It was one of the first I heard and personally, I love the look of the cans on it plus the burnt tips. But F.I is just as good, if not better, and still looks and sounds amazing. If Tony gave the option of adding burnt tips, then for me, F.I would have no competition. Hint hint ;)
