FYI. 2014 Sport Model. No Evap cover on mine. When putting on the new exhaust, any suggested Torque settings for the bolts or just hand tight? Thanks.

Hand tight is good

63 days +/- until exhaust #1021 arrives. To help pass the time I've come up with some other mods for my husband to do.

Just received my tracking number today :) My exhaust is due to arrive next Thursday however I'll be out of town :( So it may have to stay packed away for awhile before I can install it. Here I wait forever for my FI exhaust and won't be able to install it...talk about bad timing :(

I've had my exhaust on since August I think? and it still sounds amazing ~15k+ miles later. Finally got around to polishing the tips also, and they look like mirrors again! I highly recommend mother's mag and aluminum polish. Works great.

I finally joined the F.I family! :)

12" res SS according to the seller.

I have a question though: I dropped it off at the shop for install. And from the outside and what I can see, it looks good. However, there's a strong gas smell coming from the car. I hope this is normal and because the pipes are still new and will go away soon, and not because the shop forgot to use wrap on the lines...can anybody confirm? Thanks.

the first couple hours that I had my HFC & Exhaust installed I definitely smelled some odor - its essentially chemicals burning off the exhaust.

I think I was driving my car for around 3 - 5 hours before all the smell was gone. probably like 50 miles of city driving, if i recall.

Thats pretty typical when installing brand new exhaust pipes.

The oils that sometime coat the pipes will need some time to burn off and is in no need an indication something is wrong, Just give it a few heat cycles and you'll be fine.

Welcome to the FI Family from #95

After about a week if it's still smelling, prop it up on jacks and look at all the connections. Make sure you don't see any black soot from out-gassing. If so, possibly a blown gasket or it's not tightened all the way down. But I doubt this is the problem, you're just breaking in the new system. Like I said, give it a week and if it's still smelling as bad then, have it checked out.

Finally got around to installing my cat-back. NOW I have a real sports car that sounds like one. My only disappointment after buying my 'Z," was that it didn't sound much different than my Dodge Caravan..haha. Well all that has now changed. I am not a mechanic-tech, but have had classic cars before. I am fortunate to have a 4-post lift in my garage and that made the install easy. It's not really rocket science...unbolt the old one, install the new one. Went without a hitch. Well the only issue was that my sockets had trouble unbolting the existing nuts and I slightly stripped the first one. A quick trip to Lowe's and buying a 14mm 6-point socket, solved that problem. It just grabbed the nut much snugger. I just put my socket on it with a breaker bar and BINK, quickly freed up the nut. After that the install was perfect and easy. Very pleased. Note: Went with the 18-inch resonated version.
