Then there's the difference between the carbon fiber mufflers and stainless steel mufflers. carbon fiber is higher pitched and slightly louder as well- "exotic" is a good way to describe it. stainless steel is a deeper tone. I've got the loudest setup now with non res carbon fiber and i love it.

I thought it's the other way around. The carbon fiber canisters are deeper and louder.

The length of the TPs only affect cabin noise, but both are just as loud from the outside.

No, carbon fiber is definitely higher pitched. You're right it is louder also though. How much louder I couldn't really tell you.

Hmm interesting... I had carbon fiber before but never compared with the ss in person so I could be wrong. But I thought Tony told me the carbon fiber is deeper?

I'm running ART pipes and non-res C/F.. I'll be posting a review and a few videos soon. My only gripe is the VQ hiss, but I don't blame the exhaust. I seriously can't keep my foot out of the gas it sounds so so good. Has a hint of 350z purr to it too. Even my roommate who is a muscle guy likes the sound lol

I have heard both in person (I have the CF version) and I can confirm that the CF ones are slightly deeper. Of course this is just my opinion I have no solid measurements to back my claim up.

To confirm...The Carbon Fiber mufflers have a slightly "higher" pitched" exhaust note. The Stainless Steel mufflers have a lower and deeper exhaust note. If anyone has any questions on this or anything else, please feel free to call me directly.

Thanks, Tony

Ah not so fast guys. I can confirm that the CF version is slightly deeper in tone. Although I am getting slightly horse from making exhaust noises for the last 3 months :eek::icon23:

kfull 10-16-2013 01:33 PM

I think sound waves bounce off of carbon fiber more completely than stainless steel. Stainless steel absorbs a bit more of the sound wave as it hits, so it muffles the sound slightly better resulting in a deeper tone.

Sorry to say, but I think the manufacturer wins over you. Have you heard both in person? I specifically bought cf because I knew it was higher pitched and I wanted that exotic/European sound.

Probably already been answered in the 199 pages of this thread, but I am not going to go thru all 199 pages.

So here goes, Tony, what gaskets are coming with the exhaust and F.I HFC's ?

Do I need to replace any gaskets ? Which are going to be reused if any?
