HFC install time

I'm taking my 370 into the mechanic to have Berk HFCs installed. How long should I expect the install to take? Thanks!

I agree. It's an awesome excuse to get a whole 1/2 inch drive set and various tools. You'll save a good amount of money. Demon bolts or not. ^^

Is it a pain in the ***? Yes. Is it fun? No. But fawk man a shops gonna charge you at least $150 to do it and for that money you can afford to spend pretty
Much a whole day busting it out :p

Thx for the replies, I've read so many demon bolt stories on here that I really dont want to bother with it. No lift/jacks, no tools also...

Think I might hold off on the uprev for now since this is only the beginning. Im thinking the mod path is gonna be exhaust, pulleys, maf tubes and filters then uprev. If I can find a friend who has some decent tools and a lift will probably do the rest myself.

LTH's = demon bolt bypass with demon sound screaming from the rear :P NVM... Headers are even worse with a Demon driver side where bolts break & strip, and knuckles are looking like they were in a fight.

All joking aside, you can buy some ramps for $40 and the tools required for well under the install price. If they don't know about the bolt, or are unprepared, it's your pocket that will be feeling the pain. So if you do do it with a shop, try and get the price set in stone.

hrmmmmm... I'm feeling less and less confident with my decision. Might start making some calls and putting together a list of tools I'd need. Can you guys help me out with that?

lemon-fresh 05-17-2012 12:23 PM

After taking a look at the DIY section I'm not sure buying all the tools will save me money, might in the long term tho.

SS_Firehawk 05-17-2012 12:41 PM

I was real F'n lucky to only pay $400 for my LTH and CBE install. Sometimes you can find the right shop to get it done on the cheap.

vividracing 05-17-2012 02:18 PM

Most shops are going to charge about 2 hours of labor. That's assuming the "Demon Bolt" doesn't rear it's ugly head.

lemon-fresh 05-17-2012 02:22 PM

My friend with all the tools (and know how) has agreed to help me out this weekend, hopefully the demon bolt doesn't pose too much of a threat.

lemon-fresh 05-22-2012 10:13 AM

Faced the demon bolt this weekend, 2 hours later we decided to try turning it the opposite way and snapped the fucker off. Bolting everything back up took about 30 minutes lol.

Whole process was pretty fun, I'll be installing z1 maf tubes and filters this week hopefully.

Have another question, what kind of sound(s) would indicate an exhaust leak?

SS_Firehawk 05-22-2012 11:39 AM

LOL, CG's on the job. Mine is still connected to the stock header in my garage. I just stare at it triumphantly occasionally. With regards to an exhaust leak, it sounds like ticking within the exhaust note from the location of the leak.
