ARK Exhaust + ART Pipes Experience

Ok, I know there are literally TONS of threads on exhaust setup's and hissing/rasp. However, mine seems a little different. I installed everything last night and spent countless hours configuring the catback section so that the muffler tips would line up. Anyway, when I take a drive there's rasp literally through the entire RPM band. I figured the motordyne pipes would have helped alleviate some of this but it sounds a lot worse than what I've heard clips of on this forum. It get's more audible with acceleration which leads me to believe it may be a leak somewhere. Do I just need to give it time or will it continue to sound this way? I will check tonight after work and write back. Has anyone ran this combination with success? This is frustrating....

I can almost guarantee you that its a leak where the ART pipes meet the exhaust manifolds. The new ART pipe format will have a factory style o-ring seal that will not leak. It's the only way to avoid that problem in my opinion.

The Ark + ART combo was horrible for me. Under decel the thing whistled/squeeled like crazy where other Z's would hiss. It sounded great under load but that was it. Switched to Fast Intentions about 2 weeks after initial install.

That totally got rid of the decel hiss? That's prob the one thing I dislike about the Ark and ART pipe combo.

I like the ARK exhaust a lot - I had it on earlier this week without the test pipes and it sounded PERFECT! After I added the test pipes it went downhill, but I don't think it's necessarily the ART pipes, I think its that ARK mid pipe exhaust section that causes all the noise when airflow is increased. I'm contemplating switch CB's to FI or HKS Hi power - but even then I don't know how it will sound.

Do you have any clips of your fast intentions with ART pipes? I'm curious of how this would sound.

Italy - I won't be able to make that Carlisle show :(.

I used the copper gasket maker as well, I'm going to further examine tonight to see if that's where its leaking.

Sorry I don't. Pretty much 2000k rpm's and under when you let off the gas you will hear a whistle/squeel. It is bad.

Even with the FI exhaust? Man, there really is no way around running TPs is there?

Only with the Ark. I was fine with my F.I.

Sounds good and all, but I don't want cats! I'm trying to force myself to get used to it...videos of exhaust are uploading right now to youtube...

CorbinDallas 05-03-2012 07:12 PM

Videos added! It actually doesn't sound too bad in the videos, I guess the camera couldn't pick it up.

from 3k down to 2k you hear the same noise i have on my f.i test pipes/Ark exhaust, its also not under any load so it will be less of a issue here!

also nice to see some local Pa members here

I have a g37s and running Stillen Gen 3 + Ark + Art pipes. and its raspy/hiss. Don't know if its a leak or...?? I'm wondering what some of ya'll did with your install to get rid of rasp. I used the stock exhaust flange gasket with black rtv to where it meets the exhaust manifold. I'm thinking of putting rtv on the flat surfaces on both ends of the pipes..would that help? ADVICE!!!??
