Top Speed or Fast Intentions???

Im in the market for an exhaust for my Z and I'm down to Top Speed or Fast Intentions. I don't just look at one thing, I try to look at everything the exhaust as to offer. I know that Top Speed is cheaper in price by several hundred, which is a plus, and from what Ive seen, Fast Intentions only has about a 5-6hp difference over Top Speed. I know there are a lot of FI fans on here, but can someone give me an honest pros/cons difference or opinion?

Thanks guys!!!

If I recall correctly, the Top Speed exhaust is not a full cat back system, and doesn't replace the Y-Pipe. It also is not a true dual exhaust system like the FI TDX system. However, you are correct - it is much cheaper, and you won't have to wait months to get a brand new FI TDX system.

That being said, the FI TDX system is a truly top notch exhaust, made right here in the USA by Tony. It does produce more power than the TS exhaust, and personally, I think it looks better. It's really down to what you are looking for in the exhausts - they both sound different, and if power doesn't really matter to you, then the only variables are sound and price.

You can buy a y-pipe for the TS exhaust and I think FI is only about 5-6hp difference, but I could be wrong on the hp difference. Yes I know FI is a true dual system which is nice.

FAST INTENTIONS! But I may be a little biased ;) Give Tony a call and it will be really hard to resist! He conducts business in an awesome way!

edub370 05-02-2012 09:24 AM

While topspeed isnt a true dual, it makes up for that by italizing the scavaging effect of the engine better.

its really down to budget. if i had the money, i would go FI, but with a budget in mind it would be top speed without a doubt. they are the best low end exhaust u can buy probably (other than cnt )

FI looks FANTASTIC and sounds great. but from the videos i have seen online, the topspeed sound really good too.

Nubz,

Thank you for taking an interest in our products.

Personally I do not have a lot of experience with the Top Speed so I really cannot comment on it! As for our system we have many options in terms of sound level and pricing.

Please do not hesitate to call me directly with any questions that you may have and we can go from there.

Thank you, Tony

I have no experience with Top Speed, but I have a lot of experience with Tony and Fast Intentions. I would still go with F.I. even if the exhaust was just average (but it is actually awesome) because of Tony's more than exceptional customer service AND his work ethic/support. I cannot say enough about Tony and his team! You would have to work really hard to go wrong with F.I.!

MacLean 05-02-2012 06:08 PM

I do not know anything about Top Speed. At first I was thinking does he mean Top Secret, but I remember that I have heard about Top Speed. I would go personally go with F.I exhaust.

ddvette9 05-02-2012 06:23 PM

You can meet me to hear mine if you want. I'm driving through Orlando on Saturday let me know. I have top speed plus y pipe. Pm me if you want

Another vote here for F.I., why, here's why:

1. More hp, maybe only 5-6whp, but with n/a mods, it counts.
2. Build quality--it's top notch, some of the best I've ever seen.
3. Customer service, Tony has some of the best customer service I've ever experienced period, not just car related purchases, but in general.

I'm sure it would sound pretty effen clean. One can only imagine.

Ni55anPat 05-03-2012 02:00 PM

Just not a fan of F.I...I'm probably the only one.

Topspeed with ebay Y-pipe sounds clean, sexy, no rasp....perfect!

I seriously love mine

Juruki 05-03-2012 02:03 PM

^^ I agree. I used to have the FI with 12' resonators with HFCs and it was raspy
now with the top speed it doesnt have any rasp and it drones less than the FI.
The main reason i switched was ground clearance thou

Ni55anPat 05-03-2012 02:06 PM

Good, I thought i was the only one :p

I pm'd and called you.

The top speed sounds ok, but it fits like shit. FI sounds mean as hell and fits like no other.

bushman66 05-10-2012 12:13 PM

Now if Tony would just accelerate development of exhausts for 996 Porsche Twin Turbos!! End of next year is WAY too long to wait... :shakes head:

That's why they make different exhausts. Each person, ha different opinions :p. personally I don't think it sounds mean but I agree with fitment

Not starting anything just wondering. Did you agree on the fitment of the FI or the TS or both??

I didn't say TS sounded bad just fit bad, and that i personally liked the FI better TS.

Pelican170 05-10-2012 03:54 PM

My vote is for FI. I agree with what everyone said positive with Fast Intentions. Also, I had mine installed at a shop and they said it was one of the easiest exhaust pieces to put together they had seen. (put on at a race shop for subaru's and mitsubishi's). Great sound, great looks, and most importantly, great service...

P.S. im also a firm believer of "you get what you pay for"... Not to say anything is wrong with the Top Speed exhaust, but with Fast Intentions, you know your money was well spent and wont second guess yourself once you have it...

Nubz 05-10-2012 04:44 PM

I just made the plunge and went with F.I. non res. Thanks Tony.
