I plan on staying with the stock exhaust and possibly a y pipe. I am looking to do these in the near future so any help would be great! thanks in advance

The check engine light will come on without the cat as the car has two oxygen sensors, one in front of the cat and one behind it. If the sensor readings are exactly the same from front and back sensor, the ECU knows the cat is gone. Thats the sole purpose of the 2nd 02 sensor.

The first one checks your air/fuel for tuning and performance while the second checks the cat function. This is how its setup on an OBD II or newer (car built 1996, or 1995 can't remember) forward.

We have seen mixed results with our tests pipes... most 370z running out test pipes have gotten a cel light but you can always clear the cel and it has no negative affect on your car
