Install Video/Sound Clip: FI headers/cat-back/HFC...yes headers AND HFC.

Video I made of my Fast Intentions exhaust installation with a short sound clip of it at the end!

Setup is FI Long Tube Headers, TDX cat-back with 18" resonators, and two 100 cell HFCs welded into the lead pipe on the cat-back.

Very sweet looking video man. Awesome picture quality. Loved the CF exhaust & the sound. I'll give you a 5 out of 5 & two thumbs up..........

nice man! how long is that in real time?

any hiss/rasp with that setup?

Nismodean 04-16-2012 06:55 AM

So you spent approx. $700 more (not including fabrication to fit the HFC to the CBE) why?

zuperman 370 04-16-2012 07:05 AM

nice man :D but how did you manage to install both hfc and lth is that even possible?

zuperman 370 04-16-2012 07:08 AM

In real time it took all day. There is a bit of hiss.

Adding the HFC is a new option from Fast Intentions. It will cut out the raw fuel smell but I mainly did it to meet rulebook requirements for a race series that requires the use of cats.

HFC is welded into the cat-back portion of the exhaust. They are not off-the-shelf HFCs for a 370Z obviously. As mentioned above, this is a unique option that is new from FI.

No CEL.

SS_Firehawk 04-16-2012 12:28 PM

That's awesome. It's nice to get an entire exhaust from headers on back and have the option to have it configured any way I want. If you look at my tag, just a few months ago, the only way to do LTH and full exhaust was to use the Motordyne Y pipe *before their exhaust came out). This meant that the headers, Y pipe and exhaust were from three different companies. It definitely sounds awesome.

Zrider79 04-16-2012 12:38 PM

awesome !

VSS370z 04-16-2012 05:41 PM

Very awesome!!

Zrider79 04-17-2012 08:25 PM

Wow!

Nice Video....LTH with HFC's makes sense... Dyno Run?

M.Bonanni 04-27-2012 12:29 PM

Made a dyno video for you all!

I'm assuming your tuned as well? My peak numbers are the same, but your making more power and torque under the curve than I am (With due respect to dyno and weather). I'm waiting on my rom file to get to me after the ECU dump. CG's on the progress.

The cat is out of the bag!
I am so busy that I have not even had time to launch the new 100 cell HFC header option. Here are some pictures of what it looks like.

I do have an UpRev tune now, but these results were pre-tune just to show the differnence in swapping the exhaust. It's possible that the difference in power and torque under the curve comes from the intakes. My car has the AEM intakes on it. You can read a test on those on MotoIQ.com. For whatever reason, this site blocks links from MotoIQ so just go to their home page, click projects, Nissan, 370Z, then scroll down until you find the intake test.

SS_Firehawk 04-27-2012 08:31 PM

I have the same intakes :) It may be that my exhaust goes through only one cat instead of two small ones. Here is my chart. The green was the latest.

longtube headers and catback and you only gained 13whp? That sounds really low....

Zrider79 07-30-2012 08:40 PM

it sounds pretty tame for longtubes, would love to hear in person, was hoping the article would have db readings for it.

The HFCs quiet it down a bit. Perfect db level for daily driving in my opinion. They threw out the db readings because the guy running it wasn't doing it correctly.

Zrider79 08-06-2012 02:04 PM

So was that 13 whp after tune or before, I would hope a tune would yield a little more. It cool that you did so well in autocross. Love the new wheels btw sets the car off !

Thanks! I was hoping for similar results in the time attack but the ABS system had other plans. My fault though, I didn't have enough fluid in the reservoir so it would hit ice mode every time I hit the brakes any harder than normal street braking. Cost me at least a few seconds on the road course. Sucks that it happened like that but at least I won't make that mistake again!

The 13whp was pre-tune. The tune itself didn't change the peak whp but made the power band a bit better and allowed me to do some other things like lower the temp that the cooing fans kick in.
