I'm still waiting for a sound clip! I bet it sounds amazing!

edub370 03-14-2012 12:10 PM

this will be so sweet if this pans out for some legit gains. an intermidiate step between bolt ons and full out FI will be nice.

The Dimer 03-14-2012 02:03 PM

I wonder what effects they would have on a forced induction setup. Could gains be expected to be the same, whatever they are, or does forced induction usually show more?

370Z JT 03-14-2012 02:08 PM

I'm more worried about reliability. Are aftermarket camshfts pretty safe?

Would depend on the cam profile. For FI, you don't need as much on the intake events as the air is already being forced in. You do want more on the exhaust events to get the extra air/fuel out.

Cams for FI and NA are typically different.

Depends on the aggressiveness of the cams, the jun cams are not aggressive so they are realiable

Well there are actually 2 clips on YouTube of my car on the dyno you can kinda hear how it sounds and get an idea sounds 10 times better in real, just go to my post about disappointing dyno numbers and you will see the videos posted on page 4 I think

It's not the cam itself you have to worry about. It's the valve springs and retainers / push rods. The cam works by opening the valve more, putting more stress on the valve train.

I haven't looked in to this VQ motor enough yet to know how the valve train is laid out, but when I did the cam in my Challenger we did upgraded valve springs, retainers, and locks.

Mark Gomez 03-14-2012 02:43 PM

Cant wait to see the results!

HKYStormFront 03-14-2012 02:47 PM

Which is the right way to do this, but those of us advocating that path were not taken into account.

zuperman 370 03-14-2012 03:21 PM

I asked jun personally and they told me that springs and internals do not have to be changed for them cams they can even run on stock ecu due to the cams not being too aggressive, you should worry about springs etc if the cams are aggressive

Jamaica 03-14-2012 03:23 PM

Have the responded when is the intended shipping date?

phelan 03-14-2012 03:24 PM

I don't care what the maker says half the time, I'd do what I feel most comfortable doing, and if I were in your shoes, I'd upgrade all of the connecting hardware just for that little extra piece of mind. Last thing you need is all the added stress to the valvetrain wrecking the engine somehow.

On the flipside, any company saying "oh you can use (x) engine mod without retuning, it's safe for stock no problem" can't possibly be getting massive gains....I think there is more needed than just the cam shafts, but what do I know?

If they are aggressive enough to gain power, you will need support.

Even if they aren't that aggressive, it is wise to add support.

Asking the seller is not sufficient. They want to sell cams. They are not concerned about your long term reliability.

zuperman 370 03-14-2012 03:35 PM

What support mods do you guys recommend? And where can I purchase them from?

That's the rub. If they're not aggressive enough to need support, then they can't be aggressive enough to add any power.

RSZED 04-20-2012 02:40 PM

Any news results?? i really would love to buy these if they show any real gains?

DarkJak 04-20-2012 04:34 PM

Just a matter of time before the results come.

newtothe370 09-01-2014 05:01 PM

where are the results?!?!

6MT-Z34 09-01-2014 05:26 PM

I think he ended up selling them due to not finding shops that could install these or tune them
