Slower acceleration after cleaning MAF and changing the air filters

Hi guys
In the last week , I cleaned MAF sensors and changed air filters but after that the car seems slower than before
I was accelerating from 25 M/h to 120 M/h in 13.4 or 13.5 sec
Now in 14.3 or 14.4

I tried to reset the ecu
I tried to put back the old air filters
But it didn't work

Please help me guys

Kaiser370z 03-12-2012 09:21 AM

any help ??
is it that hard to answer my question ??

How exactly did you clean the MAF sensors?

TerribleONE 03-12-2012 09:51 AM

and also how are you measuring these times?

BigT 03-12-2012 10:01 AM

Did you switch gas stations or has the weather gotten any warmer? I definitely noticed that my car accelerates a ton slower when oil temps are approaching 220 degrees.

Unique_Z 03-12-2012 10:16 AM

^^ this could be one of the cause, are your temp above 90 degrees?

cheshirecat 03-12-2012 10:24 AM

I'd be interested in both ambient air temps and what method was used to actually clean the MAF sensors. You should only use actual MAF sensor cleaner.

Kaiser370z 03-12-2012 10:25 AM

i used contact cleaner to clean them
...........
how did i measure these times ??
very simple . i recorded a video for my acceleration and import it in a video editor
take the starting time and finishing time and do a simple math with them ^_^

Your car must be ruined. I would trade it in for a 5.0

Kaiser370z 03-12-2012 10:30 AM

BigT the weather maybe a little bit warmer but it's not that difference but all the accelerations i recorded and measured within a normal oil Temp

If the weather is warmer or the humidity is higher that could explain it.

Mikes350z 03-12-2012 10:44 AM

there are tons of factors for you that can change times, first the car is automatic so are you using the paddles or keeping it in D? Temps, gas grade, humidity, warm up times for the car, from dead stop? tires? road conditions? are the new air filters a different type or manufacturer? perhaps they are dried out or you improperly re-installed the MAF and there are gaps/leaks/holes or the cleaner improperly lubricated the area... if it continues for awhile with constant changes in this variables then perhaps something went wrong and bring it to a trusted dealer or mechanic....

TerribleONE honestly i love the Z more than a Mustang
and come on i only faced some minor problems and the Engine and the Transmission are in a very good shape
so why should i sell my Z ??

He's kidding...sort of.

First, I would inspect to see if you re-installed all the intake parts correctly after cleaning the MAF sensors. Make sure nothing is loose and there are no leaks.

What kind of filters are you using? OEM? H

ow did you reset the ECU?

Kaiser370z 03-12-2012 11:03 AM

Mikes350z i always using the paddles if i want to test the acceleration of my car
before: the Temp. was 19C and these days is around 24 C
Gas Grade the Same as always 95 Octane premium ( the same as 91 in US ) but this is the higher gas grade we have
worm up time : a couple of minutes usually
tires : stock tires ( base model )
road condition: the same road
the filters : my car is a US Spec and it came with a red filter but the filters of the Gulf Spec are Yellow. So they are different. i installed the yellow ones after i noticed that the car is a little bit slower, i changed back to the old ones
but it didn't work
