DYNO - NISMO CBE and K&N Dropins

Took the Z over to be dynoed on Saturday, see the chart below.

Seems to me like the NISMO OEM CBE is pretty badass, even if it isn't very loud..

Also, the K&N Dropins made quite the difference.. :happydance:

Oh yeah, we somehow lost the chart for the first pull we made that went to 7300rpm before the drop ins.. We know it was 293 @ 7141rpm though (took photo of the result screen)

Very nice gains with budget mods -- congrats!

I'm all about bang for the buck

Yep yep, can't complain!

Some serious mods coming very soon though, watch out for new dyno charts showing the big numbers :)

I'm still stressing over those filtration tests that show K&N to "not filter very well".

Then on the flip side, you have Ford putting a similar intake OEM on the GT500, and then warrantying it for 5/60 with longer available.

Not sure :/

So 293 was with the exhaust only and 309 was with drop-ins? Just trying to gauge the increase in power.

Sh0velMan 02-22-2012 11:31 AM

Yep.

We did 3 pulls, put the filters in, did 3 more (with enough time between to keep the oil temp consistent).

BigT 02-22-2012 03:16 PM

So, you're saying that adding drop-ins gained another 16whp? If so, that is amazing!

Sh0velMan 02-22-2012 03:24 PM

That's what I'm saying.

Mind you I have the CBE as well, which is good for many HP's and enhances any intake mods you may add.

interesting

Do you know how much did the AFR and oil temp changed between runs?

I read a thread a while back showing that oil temp in this car can vary the results by a few WHP. I usually hear the drop-ins give ~5-ish WHP--great for how cheap they are!--so I would wonder if you got an extra kick from AFR and/or oil temp at the same time.

That's some nice gains on a budget!

What surprised me is that on the graph it shows the car got richer with the K&Ns vs. without. I'd have expected the opposite, but maybe the MAF system adjusted for them and added a bit of fuel.

That's just the WB stuck in the tailpipe, so not really accurate.

I will try and get the data logs from Dan @ OPS and post them.

But it was stuck in the exhaust for both runs correct? Still relative I'm thinking as it'll read a few ticks leaner at the tail pipe vs. pre cat.

Or maybe the car haden't adjusted entirely and was trying to compensate for the new filters since it sounds like he switched them on the dyno??
