K Barney, I know your intentions were good:). Read 3rd post from the OP.

From his other posts posts I know he's meticulous and cares about his equipment.

Peace

FWIW, the OEM NISMO exhaust has zero drone (tho it isn't nearly as loud at WOT as some other catbacks are) and seems to provide stronger gains than a lot of aftermarket catbacks on the market. It is 2.25" mandrel bent with an H pipe, after all.

It's very expensive for what you get (IMO).

I am pretty bent on the Berk. I saw your dyno and it was impressive, though!

He is referring to his dyno, but if his dyno is taken at face-value, he went from 293whp with his NISMO CBE on a stock 370Z Touring/Sport to 309whp with the addition of drop-in K&N filters.

That means he gained 16whp off of a filter swap.

I am not sure what to think.

m4a1mustang 02-22-2012 08:46 AM

Definitely seems a little excessive. NISMO CBE in most cases has only gained around ~10whp over stock while the FIs of the world are closer to 20.

...and Berk? (I'm looking to affirmation of decision, lol)

Nick911sc 02-22-2012 09:01 AM

If you look around the forum there are a bunch of threads debating FI vs Berk. The problem is that dyno charts are difficult to compare against each other. There are too many factors that can skew results. With that being said... The HP differences +/- between Berk and FI are IMO negligible. Invidia on the other had has proven to have less gains because of extra restriction.

Berk makes good power. It's close to FI.

Trust me, you'll love the sound. I installed b1adesofcha0s' Berk CBE and was impressed with the quality and fitment, and the sound was fantastic.

totally agree. I got mine done last Friday and I have been really happy with it. I went through three exhuasts on my '08 STI before I found one that didnt drone, I'm glad I got the Berk first so that I didnt have to go through several on the Z to find the perfect one.
