Takeda short ram intakes? Looking for additional insight.

So I saw these intakes available and found them interesting. After searching and reading multiple threads about these intakes I didn't see very good feedback (e.g. -2 hp gain) and temps around ambient. However, One good thing I read about these was the sound, everyone said they sounded awesome despite the unknown hp gain. They are on the less expensive side too.

I also didn't see any new information on these.. All the other threads were pretty old. Does anyone know if these now have heat shields? Has anyone else had recent experience with these? Maybe better experience? Despite maybe no hp gains will I see any other benefits??

Let me know. Thanks!

I'm only fond of cold air intakes myself.

If you want intakes, Stillen G3 is your best bet. Stay away from the short-rams, they are no better than factory and are in many cases worse.

Takeda also just released their CAI for the Z. Looks good and no trimming of the core support is win. I woulda gone with those instead of the 3 gens for that reason alone.

If you want performance then get a true cold intake. If you want something that looks a ton better than the stock intakes and you're not worried about performance than the shorties do the trick. I plan on doing FI at some point, so sometime in the future my shorties will go bye bye. They get a lot of comments though at meets.

Thanks dude. I guess I'm really just looking for something with great sound and looks and on the cheaper end (oops I said cheaper:p) Performance doesn't really bother me as this is my DD and I don't track, meet or race ever. And I don't really want to heavily mod my car and I think I'll just do the shorties cause of looks, sound, and price..

I heard really good things about the K&N typhoons performance wise but heard the takedas sound better... Anyone heard or have experience with either? I wonder out of the three: Typhoons, Takeda, Rc2 which sounds better?!

I had the Takeda, they lost HP.
Sound wise, you can hear the intakes breath but once the car gets hot you can feel it get a little sluggish.

You can hear the Takedas though it would be better with heat shields. I didn't have any dyno's done, so I can't say about hp. I'm getting a dyno done in a couple of weeks but have other mods and no stock dyno, so it won't mean anything for the Takedas.

Do you know if they make heat shields now for Takedas?

sboden 02-20-2012 09:21 AM

I don't know.

I have the Takedas with Pre filters on them. I love the sound of my intakes.
