Hfc + cbe = mpg

With all of the discussions going on about which exhaust/high flow cats has the best sound, I am interested in what (if any) increase or decrease in the miles per gallon has been noticed. I am going to pull the plug next week on a Invidia Gemini CBE, CNT HFCs and K&N filters. Although I am more interested in the new found sound and performance of the new exhaust system, I am curious if the MPG is affected? I would guess that the MPG would increase slightly (if you can keep your foot out of it).

My question to you is: "Why are you concerned with MPG?". Just a question.

I'm not really concerned about the MPG, but I thought it may be a good topic for discussion. By the way, the Z gets better mileage than my 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe.

Fair enough. Just seems moot to me.

Valid question considering some part manufacturers advertise an increase in mpg. :icon14:

If your not throwing a code the mpg increases. I gained a minimum of 1/2-1 mpg with no code. Then SES kicked on and that dropped 2 mpg. I'm obviously running a tad rich :P

Ses?

Sex Engine Light or Service Engine Soon........it's one of those

I think my Wife needs a Sex engine light so I can stop guessing when she's in the mood. Hell throw in an OBD2 sensor so I can figure out what code she's throwing when she's pissed.

It's been scientifically proven that your mpg goes way down because you can't keep from revving it out to hear that sweet exhaust sound.

I agree. However, more power from the same size engine usually means you have improved efficiency. More efficiency usually means better mileage, which is usually cancelled out wth your right foot.

Haha I used the mpg argument with my parents back in the day to make them let me get an intake on my civic. It worked too. But yeah, right now all I have is the Stillen G3 cai's and I step in it every chance I get to hear her growl at me some :)

Definitely get your car tuned if it's throwing a code... Mpg goes down the drain. I averaged 16.7mpg with 70% freeway driving on my last tank of gas. before the code I was averaging about 19mpg 50/50 city/freeway.:shakes head:
