Awesome sound! When I get my exhaust hopefully next weekend I will fire it up with no pipes

dudesky 08-26-2011 10:40 PM

good luck bro!

Glokwork 08-26-2011 10:42 PM

I'd love to hear that exhaust in person! I like it loud as hell, already got CNT HFCs now just waiting on my non resonated FI TDX. +1 for the great vid

dudesky 08-26-2011 10:46 PM

Thanks a lot bro. Can't wait til hear your exhaust too! I just didn't have time to make better video because hurricane is comming and it's just crazy here :) next week, I'm going to make better video! :)

Sweet looking forward to another vid. I'll definitely be making a few sometime. I need a better camera though, I have a flip ultra hd right now.

nice looking and sound but 10 hp and only 5 tq... ouch.

dudesky 08-26-2011 11:11 PM

haha. when I bought these, I wasn't really looking at gains, I was purely interested in upgrading sound. Therefore, even if it was like 3 hp and 1 tq gain, I probably didn't really mind about it :)

Glokwork 08-26-2011 11:17 PM

Hey if you're happy with your exhaust bro that's all that matters and I've watched it a few times now sounds sick!

oh no that's cool man, i'm not trying to rain on your parade... I think it looks and sounds good like I said... i'm looking at several different exhausts myself and trying to get a good balance of power and sound.

I remember you had a thread about deciding on an exhaust what did you decide to go with? I think you just got art pipes correct? What do you think about them?

I am quite torn actually... I am thinking about the F.I. strongly, BUT ARK has their type 1 coming out and so does Motordyne and after feeling what the ART pipes do, I REALLY want to wait on Tony to complete his set-up but I don't know how long it will be which is ok, it's better to wait than to buy something and then wish you had waited. Honestly i've thought alot about the Invidia... not a high dollar exhaust, but it sounds really good with the ART pipe combo.

I just figure maybe it's better to have something you like the sound and look of, but also have one that is shown to have the most power gains. These exhausts are expensive and I want max power out of what I get.

On the ART pipes to answer your question though, they sound really good to me... gives QUITE a kick to my otherwise stock Z. I research things soooooooo much before I buy... i'm quite obsessive actually so that's not the best thing, but I wanted to make sure I got the best per dollar. The ART pipes seemed to be the best mix or quality, sound, definitely power and customer service... they are expensive yes, but I would buy them all over again.

Always a good idea to do your homework, after all this is a 35k car and 1k+ item. I would recommend FI to anyone and everyone, scraping is not an issue with it. I know the ark's scrape on the flanges. I may switch to art pipes sometime, I'd like to hear them in person first. Any rasp at all with them? If I had the dough to spare I'd go with FI LTH.

No rasp at all that i've ever heard... plus they do quiet down as they break in. I wouldn't do LTH's here... I don't know about there, but now that i've changed the cats out, it wouldn't be a big deal to do it again... with the LTH's forget that! I did think about Stillen's headers, but the fitment for them doesn't seem to be to good based off of some reviews with lining up with HFC's that are not also Stillen... they supposedly produce very little, if any gain anyway so no point. Why couldn't I just have the OE's ported and polished anyway and save some money? I wouldn't do it, but some might.

The F.I. has been at the top of my list for quite some time, but I just want to wait on the other systems... I have yet to hear an F.I. with ART pipes... I want the 18" resonators so it's quiet though... I think with the TP's it will produce a nice low growl, but sort of sleeperish :)

Glokwork 08-27-2011 02:03 PM

That's what I'm thinking, can't go wrong with that combo! I want to hear LTHs in person before I pull the trigger. No emissions tests in va except for nova (falls church, fairfax etc). I've heard they aren't as long as tp's or hfcs and loud is what I want. I went non resonated on my FI.
