CAI vs. SRI
This is of course going to be a dumb question as i'm sure most on here are technically inclined when it comes to tuning, however, i really need to know if there is a placement difference in the k&n CAI and SRI for my 370z. I previously owned a 2007 honda civic si and had many issues with water uptake from the CAI installed on it as the filter was so damn close to the underbody/ground that every time it rained the intake would get clogged with water and the engine would die. Needless to say, I changed to the Injen SRI for my civic in which i had no water issues as it was securely installed/mounted under the hood and no where near the underbody. My question here: Am I going to have water uptake issues with if i install K&N CAI on my 2011 370z ? Thanks for any advice you experienced tuners have for me.

I don't think there is a k&n CAI only SRI. Stillen g3 is a CAI and the placement of the filter makes it hard for it to suck in water. Stillen g3 also has the most gain.
You can use search function to see The reviews |
:iagree: Go with the Stillen Gen3. Best gains and the only CAI where there is almost no possible way of having water ingestion.

Also Takeda has just released a new CAI for the G37's, won't be much longer before the 370Z press release if you can hold out... Similar piping as the Stillens, but with rubber tubing to go between the shroud supports, supposedly you won't have to cut anything like you do with the Stillens. And it will consist of 1 large filter as opposed to 2 separate ones.

either way... no one unless they are very very rich or just dumb is going to pay 1100.00 for a set of SRI's that put out basically the same power as a 525.00 set.

Nope, that was done in Houston, Texas.

That 1 filter doesn't look any bigger than 2 stillen filters, but I do like the rubber pieces that avoid cutting

Any update on this?

Still no words on the Takeda. The person who was supposed to let me know was busy with back to back shows so I'll peek in and find out...
However there is another brand of CAI coming out thats taking the complaints from both the Stillen and Injen CAI's and making one even better, at a cheaper cost. But since I don't want to spoil the thunder, I can't say who yet. |
Thanks for the update Chris:tiphat: keep us posted please!

Its home to me. Although I can understand why many would't like it. I can live anywhere, I dont care as long as I have a place for my vehicles and internet.
|
I can live anywhere too, just I have a lot of hatred for this base for many reasons. I'd be happy anywhere, but not here.
|
I know what ya mean, PCS or deploy lol. Im content here, not a bad base at all, nice and sleepy. Most people hate it here though, it is what you make it it, right??:ugh2: I really hope Takeda releases this intake, the ONLY reason I havent gotten the G3 is if I want or need to return it to stock I can without any issues. or maybe the other brand your speak of....
|
Bump. Chris do you have any news? I'm excited about this release since I am a big AFE fan. Or any word on the other brand you mentioned? Thanks.
