My exhaust became quiet

For the past couple of days, i noticed that my exhaust is not sounding what it used to be. It becomes quiet and loses its character every 2000 miles or so. I would have to reset my ecu to get the sound back lol. Any reason as to why i would have to do that?

wat?

ggiwin 08-06-2011 04:08 PM

yes it's strange. I dont understand either but it works out for me if i reset the ecu.

+1 Your brain gradually tunes out constant stimuli (sounds, smells, etc.).

And the fact that as your exhaust ages, the glasspack fibers settle and the sound will diminish. Nothing wrong with it, just means you need to push the pedal down further to get the same effect.

Get test pipes and AAM shorttails , it'll never get quiet !

You get used to the sound, it sounds quieter after driving for a while since you are used to hearing the same volume levels. Same thing with acceleration: the first time you upgrade, it feels so much faster. But it starts to feel slower and slower leaving you looking for more power. This is how the disease otherwise known as car upgrading starts.
