Q: What did you do with your OEM exhaust?

So I have a question, I'm getting my exhaust system put in today. I wanted to know for those of you who have installed an exhaust system, what did you do with your OEM? Is it worth keeping or should I throw it out? I live in an apartment so space is limited. Thanks!

Mine is taking up room in the parents garage. In September I move into my own place and I'm getting a garage there as well. I got rid of the cats, but if I trade in the car I just chuck the stock exhaust back on.

Sitting in the garage with the Z. You never know if your going to have to put the car back to stock for whatever reason. Plus I'm not going to throw it away and not many people are looking to buy a stock exhaust so what else am I going to do with it.

salvage yard

Tossed it. It's not made as well as the aftermarket ones, so why keep it around? I'm certainly not putting it back on.

christian370z 07-30-2011 08:03 AM

Kept it in the garage. I made the mistake of selling the stock parts off my last car and regretted that immensely when it came time to selling the car. I could have sold many of my aftermarket parts separately for a couple thousand but couldn't, so I'm not going to make that mistake with the Z.

Threw mine away. Too many old parts laying around that I need to get rid of. Anyone want stock Tahoe springs, c6 headers, cats and axle back, 350z rear inner hatch liner, 240z seats or door panels, or tons of other parts from cars I no longer have?

roplusbee 07-30-2011 09:22 AM

Mine is sitting at a friend's place in GA. I didn't have a way to bring it back to TX with me lol. But I plan on keeping it in case I plan to go back to stock for some reason...........

Sitting in my basement storage room. (As are all the OEM parts I swapped out.)

Red__Zed 07-30-2011 09:49 AM

mine is sitting in my laundry room.

You should look in the classifieds, people are actually buying the OEM exhaust as well as the NISMO.

sboden 07-30-2011 02:52 PM

The price the stock exhaust is going for is not worth the hassle imo.

doublea2527 07-30-2011 08:33 PM

Let the shop I got it installed at have it lol.

Yea we have about 6 G37 OEM exhaust here. Its nicely packed with a name on each one.

VQinside 08-02-2011 10:26 PM

keep it and put it back on your car if you ever want to sell it.
Its easier to get more buyers on a stock car than a riced out one.

Selling for $100.00. A guy is picking it up Thursday. We'll see If he shows up though. I put Magnaflow catback, sounds great, not too loud and I insulated my trunk, what a difference. I had metal rattling sound at times, very annoying.

Nixin 05-15-2018 01:31 PM

I left mine at the shop that installed my FI CBE. I did tell 'em when time comes to reinstall the OEM exhaust, I will be back for it. They probably had at least 10 OEM Z exhausts in their warehouse.

Sold my stock nismo exhaust for $350 a week ago. I live in a small apartment as well and couldn't justify keeping it.
