I've heard the Ark a few times - it has a nice deep exhaust note - but I've never ridden in a car with one so I can't really comment on relative volume or drone. Any meetups near you where you can go and hear a few for comparison? Exhaust sound is tremendously subjective, so anything you can listen to in person is helpful.

is there any chance you have a sound clip of your setup? have not been able to find anything on yt with test pipes as well. Also was just suggested the ark grip by another forum member, and I have to say it sounds quite nice as well lol

Here are a few clips

not sure how to split up the quote to reply but for the time being it will just be oem cats for a while, but test pipes are the eventual plan. Thanks again for all the information.

So from what I'm taking away from your post and WhJ, it sounds like motordyne and greddy are the top two choices for me as I am looking for something on the louder side, as i mentioned in my response to him someone recently showed me the ark grip as well. Do you have any experience with that? or have had the chance to hear it in person? From the clips I can find it sounds like it's in a similar range to greddy but definitely quieter than the motordyne and louder than FI

Click the middle button w/ the quotation mark as your first and then click the quote button for the last post you're wanting to quote/reply to.

I've never heard the ARK in person that I know of, so I can't give a personal review. A lot of people like it, and it seems to be a quality product, but it's the same as the HKS. It's 2.5" all the way.

okay cool thank you very much again for all the input :D sadly no meets around me...I live on a relatively small island and have never even seen another modded 370z haaha. The scene here is mostly teens with drift 240's and e46's and a huge honda crowd.

Greddy and Fast Intentions both have a wait time, but they'll be worth it. I'm not sure on stocking/production procedure for the others.

So I'm still debating between the AAM r-line 3" or the Fast Intentions 2.5"

I'm considering going forced induction in the future so I'm leaning AAM since they state it is NA and FI compatible, but it looks like the fast intentions is only for NA, and if I want to go forced induction then I would have to switch to their 3 inch setup setup in the future.

Can anyone confirm for me if this is true?

Also, how is drone on the AAM r-line? One big deciding factor for me is whether it is going to rattle my brain cruising on the highway around 3000 rpm

AAM makes ill-fitting garbage, so get the FI. A 2.5" exhaust moves a ton of gas. Lots of guys have made a LOT of power on the FI 2.5" exhaust.

Ok, do you happen to know any clips that show sound difference between the 10" and 14" stainless muffler, and the carbon fiber 14"

Very little info on the differences it seems

CyberKnup 07-31-2020 02:29 PM

So I had a nice talk with Kevin from Fast Intentions and I placed my order for the FI TDX 2.5" with the new 10" muffler, 13-15 weeks for estimated completion. Gotta say I'm excited to get it installed.

I’ve been looking into some used nismo exhaust parts and found some decently priced, but will they bolt into a base model? It’s just the two mid pipes between the muffler and the cats. Read somewhere that the parts might be longer than base exhaust. Found a diagram but it’s on another forum and idk if I’m allowed to link that here.

Really just want to be rid of the y pipe without spending on a full aftermarket exhaust.

Looking at the Ark performance grip system for my z. Here in OZ, you really are up the s bend without a paddle when it comes to exhausts. Seems like everyone and his dog sells an Invidia Gemini system (I know nothing about them -only from what I have heard on youtube videos) and, really, not a lot else.
I would love a Motordyne system (purely just by listening to them)
On my old Z which I sold some years ago, I had a Gthaus system but took it off because the wife was not impressed, and I have to say it was a bit loud (but also, a lot of fun)

I got the Invidia Gemini for mine last year and have no regrets.

It's very well made and designed to overcome all the shortfalls of the stock system, which are obvious when you look at it on the floor. It gave mine a good kick in the pants, after I reset the ECU, which it needed.

Since then I have thoroughly enjoyed the soundtrack. Zero drone and perfect volume and tone.

I'm tempted to get headers and HF cats but know the volume will go up and could easily ruin what is a great soundtrack currently. Almost silent on cruise with a rumble off throttle and on with light throttle increase.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this system but make sure you don't get the latest Euro version that's super quiet, unless you intend to go with headers and HF cats of course.

After having Invidia Gemini for the last 5.5 years I switched to Z1 Y-Pipe & Top Speed 2.75in/70mm single with dual exit exhaust this evening. OMG This is what I've been wanting this whole time. Paired with Z1 HFC it's not too loud and not too quiet.

What is different about it compared to the Gemini? I’m assuming louder

Ran Greddy GT for few weeks, then full Nismo for few years, loved the power curve but wanted something with aggressive sound.

Installed HKS Hi-Power recently and love the performance and sound.
