AAM Competition 2.5" Exhaust

Hey guys, just doing my research to pick out what exhaust to buy. I was pretty much set on FI but then I heard the AAM which sounds pretty good. The only thing is almost no one seems to have this exhaust. I can barely find any info on it and there is only one sound clip on youtube. Am I missing something? Why is this exhaust so unpopular?

Probably cause the FI is so much better. Get the FI you wont regret it.

To be fair to AAM I can't comment on how this exhaust performs against other exhausts. I just think it isn't popular because the vendor isn't particularly active on this forum and hasn't done enough to get their product out there. A simple review by someone who has it would do a lot to help it's popularity, and price decrease wouldn't hurt either.

I wouldnt close myself off from other options than just the FI....there are plenty of great exhausts out there....

I have the AAM setup and am pleased with it. Too hip on the forum also has the same setup. The Fast Intentions sounds great too. I purchased it for the exhaust note which I like. Jon at AAM is on this forum and I"m sure he can answer any questions you might have. Good luck, whatever you go with! You have lots of choices.

Thanks for the input guys. I looked at pretty much any exhaust I could find a sound clip for but didn't like the majority of them. The FI sounded the best until I heard the AAM. There was a really good deal on a Stillen locally but when I heard it I could tell that it wasn't quite the sound I was looking for. Has anyone heard anything bad about the AAM?

Did you hear the AAM in person?

I'm really liking the AAM R Line exhaust sound, it's very exotic. Performance gains don't seem to be as good as the FI exhaust though. Could that be because its 3" piping is too big? Some more info in this thread:

What do you guys think?

Rocket 05-31-2011 03:31 PM

No I haven't heard it in person. I don't think anyone up here currently has that set up or at least I don't know anyone who does.

The R-Line 3" sounds really good but I don't plan on ever going FI so it's not a great option for me.

I think the AAM sounds a lot different in person than it does on video. I am (personally) not a big fan of the sound. I think there is a good amount of rasp. It's not audible in cabin, but you can hear it outside the car.

I had planned to pick it up based on internet vids, but I'm not really a fan of how it sounds in person.

I know that you are asking about AAM in this thread so I will not knock that.

However, I also noticed that you expressed interest in our system. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me directly...

Thank you, Tony

I have had the FI 18" with CF cans + HFCs and they sounded mean.
1. Are you going to lower your car, because you may scrape with the F.I.
2. Do you mind having some drone at lower RPM's? But having killer sound in the higher RPM's
3. The quality of the work, and welds are amazing.

I have the AAM 2.5" Version 2, but I am Forced Induction.
1. They look stock
2. They will have more clearance if you are planning on lowering your car in the future.
3. Less drone, nice sound (not overpowering)

I really like both, but if I had to choose, I would go F.I. just for that pure raw sound. I can't explain it, it's beastly.

The AAM with TT's sounds amazing as well, but that F.I. just has that high note.

I hope that helps a little.
They are both great systems.

Definitely helped me at least. I will probably be going with the same FI setup that you had, once I save up the money for it.
