some help with exhaust sound please

Hello guys,
I'm very broke right now so don't have budget to afford a whole new cat back exhaust :(
I wonder if there are good ways to modify my stock exhaust to make sound better (I currently hate my stock exhaust because it's too restricted)
Such as
1. removing a resolnator
2. removing a middle pipe
3. removing flex pipes?
4. get cheap HFC such as megnaflow
5. cut muffler and weld aftermarket mufflers (like Megan or etc)
Which one is the most recommended?
Are there any other ways??
Please help me experts! :)

best bet, buy a top speed exhaust. its not that expensive. and you wont ruin your exhaust.

If you're that broke, do the washer mod. $20 and done.

Muffler delete and custom pipes+tips will be your best bet...

Removing resonators from a stock exhaust system is something you should NEVER do.

oh and is there any pictures or videos of DIY washer mod??

Rui Z 05-27-2011 12:22 AM

There's a DIY somewhere on the forum. If you don't have a jack stand, just put half (the right side) of your car up on a sidewalk so that you have access to the pipe flanges right before the muffler. I believe the bolts are 1/2" or 5/8", so just get (16) 5/8" stainless steel washers (4 for each bolt). All you have to do is unbolt it, place the washers between the flanges and bolt it back up. Let me know how it turns out.

thanks so much bro. but since i'm not really really sure, can you give me a link of exact product I have to get? thanks so much :)

Sorry, but I don't remember the exact washer size you need (most likely 1/2" or 5/8"). You'll have to get under the car and determine that yourself. Just take the bolt to Home Depot and ask one of the employees that you need a stainless steel washer for the bolt. They will tell you which one to get.

they sell those washers in Home Depot?? wooow I didn't know that :)

oh btw, I'm a bit scare of having leaking space inbetween the pipes...what if water or dirts go in you know...
