NISMO exhaust (not S-tune) on a base 370Z (sport)...

Yes- it will fit. The tips look like saucers after the standard exhaust. Nice deep tone.

Did you notice a difference performance wise over stock? Just curious.
Thanks,

Looks good, I had heard when the Nismo first came out that the exhaust would not transfer to the 370z. Something like the exhaust is too long or maybe it was too short. Did you have to get a tune to get the same +17 hp claimed on the Nismo?

I had read a thread earlier that indicated the actual NISMO exhaust would not fit. But after some serious measuring, it looked to me like it should fit not problem. I took it to my buds at the dealer. $95 and an hour later they were done.

Performance-wise, my butt dyno is not a very good judge. I have not had tune. I'm just letting the ECU think about it awhile. The sound change is immediately apparent - very nice.

It's actually exhaust + different tune that produces the 17 hp difference. The exhaust alone will probably get less than 17 hp.

It sure does fit, actually better than my S-Tune. Curious what dyno numbers the car would achieve. Also a sound clip would be cool.

Pretty much what I was asking, you just stated it more concise.

With the H pipe design and a remapped ECU = 17hp gain. :tiphat:

I wonder if you can find a used Nismo ECU and just replace the base model ECU. Anyone see problems with this?

Yea the problem is finding a used Nismo Ecu. If you do find one put me in for a group buy..

Nismo exhaust is only good for ~7hp over stock Z. The majority of the power comes from the tune. There isn't much difference between the stock exhaust and the Nismo. One week after I got my Nismo and swapped it out for my previous Z's FI 18' resonator with carbon fiber mufflers. There was a good noticeable gain on the butt dyno, not to mention a difference in sound and much lighter in weight. For me the Nismo was not much better than stock in the sound department. For a stock Z the Nismo exhaust is a good upgrade for those looking to not spend that much money but personally i think it's worth the extra money to go with aftermarket. My Nismo exhaust is just sitting in my garage for now.

So I'm totally reviving a thread from the dead, but the Nismo exhaust does sound noticeably nicer than the stock base exhaust. The best part is the sound doesn't drone or impede music/conversation in the way that some exhausts are prone to. The tone is much deeper and the car seems to rev a little freer in the upper rpm range. The tips are much nicer than stock as well, so you get an aesthetic benefit also.

The Nismo exhaust is good for people who want a little nicer sound and a little nicer output for a price lower than a new aftermarket system. It fits well also, you simply use two of the rear section brackets instead of three.

So, I am reviving this thread again, as I have a 2013 roadster and a chance to get a nismo exhaust for 500 bucks...is it worth the investment? Will it really sound that different? My exhaust looks almost exactly like the Nismo...What is the difference? I don't want any warranty issues, as my car is 3 months new and 3400 miles on it...I haven't done mods on anything since my '69 vette back in the 80's...And ...if I get this exhaust and the Nismo CAI, then I will need a tune right?? Will Nissan honor my warranty? Do they do tunes?? Yep, lots of questions..

Probable gains below (note that this is with K&N panel filters and smooth tubes for both sets of runs)

You will not need a tune, although getting one may net a bit more power. The above dynos are, I believe, with the OEM tune and cats.

See more dynos and lots and lots of exhaustive analysis and discussion on the H-pipe Nismo (and other mods) here http://www.the370z.com/south-east-re...-thread-6.html

StevefromTX 07-04-2014 08:31 PM

Thanks Jordo!..looks like It is a modest but notable boost...and the sound is nice from the Nismo...I have even heard the sound is nice with the Nismo catback and stock muffler...500 bucks for 10 horsie..not so sure...I have a couple of weeks before my buddy passes thru the town they are in...decisions .....

Listen to them ong his car before u buy ? But for $500 , your 1/2 way to aftermarket.
