Installing Fast Intentions exhaust question

I am in the process of installing my Fast Intentions 18" ss exahust. I have removed the factory exhaust and i am at the part where you trim or bend the metal cover for the fuel lines. Does any one have pics of doing this? On the instructions the update to this is to just bend the corner. Well how much? i dont wont to bend back too much cause the metal cover is there for a reason. Any help would be appreciated.

This part caused me quite a headache. No matter how much I bent, cut, hammered that cover it was still in the way. Somehow finally managed to get it to work, but then it would rattle loudly. I finally took it off completely and wrapped the hoses with some heat resistant tape and have had no problems.

My directions say to remove that cover and put the supplied heat wrap over the fuel lines... havent gotten mine on yet, couple of weeks...

It certainly gives you a lot more room to work with.

That's what my installer did, remove the heatshield and wrapped it up. It's been good for a year now.

is this the only solution or is there another way.

The aluminum metal shield? I just bent it out of the way a little so it does not touch the lines. No need to cut or trim.

Is this just an issue with the FI exhaust system?

Thats a good question - the Ark exhaust cans are very similarly placed to Fast Intentions. Either way dont sweat it man, if you try bending it and it doesnt work out, just remove and wrap like some of us did, its pretty simple. I have a bunch of leftover heat tape I can get to you at one of our Wednesday meets.
