K&N Typhoon Review kinda...

Wow, just installed these suckers today!!!

Will be getting my CBE and HFC soon and will have DYNO done at Titan Motorsports. Cant wait to see the gains from the bolt ons!

***INTAKE***

Amazing sound with the wide open throttle, i mean these things screammmmm!!!

At cruising speeds you really dont notice or hear a difference, and honestly even at a WOT, iuno if there is a TRUE 14.2 HP gain, cuz i really cant feel a difference in power until 3-5 gears. But the sound is to die for!! AMAZING!!!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND for those who dont wanna get a CAI, and take off bumper and cut things and move fluid boxes ETC... very good install instructions...Only ran into one problem with the passenger side air hose re connect, it kept bending and kinking, but i cut it short and made it work. Very nice.

I have the K&N set up aswell. Most will say its crap but I like it myself. Also when your cruising down the road cold air blows into the airfilter from the factory ducts. I found this out when I had mine on the dyno with the fans blowing through the radiator opening.

Yeah it gets alot of crap for some reason, but i swear to god when you put the pedal to the metal, those intakes SCREAMMMMM!!!!! I love mine, couldnt be happier.

Been waiting to hear someones review. All I read is it sounds cool. You don't notice any difference? Untill 3-5? What difference do you notice at those gears and not the lower gears? No difference at different rpms?

i noticed gains with k&n intake even at low rpm. i put it on mustang dyno awhile back during a hot summer day. i gained 6whp and 5ft/tq. i think those were the numbers, it was awhile back

What i mean is i dont hear or feel any extra pull in the 1st and 2nd gear when crusiing regular speed. But once i hit the 4th n 5th gear i feel the pedal is on a string, if barley touch the pedal and it pulls hard and you can hear it. RPM wise 6-8.5k is the scream zone, very loud and pronouced, it honestly makes it sound like the Z has a exhaust tone, *im stock exhaust for now* but ya.

they claim almost 14hp but most CAI dont average that. unless their tuned and dynoed

Not yet, i can deff take pics but...the video will be hard, i gotta get a trip pod to hold cam for drive buys and revs. TRUST ME I WILL PUT THEM UP!!

Nismoracer 04-21-2011 04:38 PM

Hmm u don't feel a difference until 4th & 5th normal driving... could b cuz at that speed by that time its sucking in more & cooler air. There's air flow and ur not sucking in engine heat. This may b worth getting...

mattdub 01-31-2018 10:58 PM

The stock airboxes do ok at lowspeeds already, it's at higher speeds where the restriction comes in play. Most likely that's why you can see the diff in 4 and 5. That's the biggest area for improvement from stock.

Do any of you still have this setup? How has it been?

sirnixalot 02-01-2018 07:15 AM

traded 10whp for noise

mattdub 02-01-2018 08:04 AM

Bad trade...
