You want the Berk. CBE with stock cats it's very very nice and stealth at low rpm. No drone, sweet moan.

With Berk HFCs added it sounds like an exotic Italian car.

Wow Bolio... I need re-consider Berk. That look is almost stock. But the sound is sooo sweet. That's the stock sound I miss about by G35C, but a lot deeper and more authoritative. I just hate what they did with the stock 370Z exhaust sound. I can't even hear it from inside the cabin while driving. In your vid, it's even captured on an audio recording.

However, I did read somewhere on here, that there were some quality fitment issues with Berk initially? as well as bad customer service and long wait times? Does this still hold true today? And what if purchased through a sponsor, do I still have to deal with Berk directly for issues or do I still have to wait as long as I would for F.I. to purchase one?!?!?

Right now, am debating between Invidia, Stillen, and Berk.

From what I've heard, Berk got their issues together...Its true that there were a lot of problems with the 1st and 2nd batch as far as timing....Keep in mind that this was when the product first launched, and they had a bunch of issues with their supplier over seas...Their biggest problem was communication with members that ordered....but they fixed that issue and when it came down to it, they took care of all of us with discounts and promo-offers....From my understanding, they were planning to stock up on these exhausts so that they could ship out on order...Give them a call ask for Bryan or Laurie...if I'm not mistaken "Rob" is the one that was last monitoring the forums...

The one thing that is a plus with the Berk besides its stock look and awesome Growl is its Exclusiveness!!!! There's not many of them being sported out there as in comparison to other exhausts.

Here's their link

I love my Gemini. FI and berk both sound good as well.

UPDATE: ok guys, I think I am narrowing down to Invidia! I've been doing some price searches, and I think I am closing in on a very good deal.

I had a question though, most folks who have this installed also have an HFC upgrade or an intake upgrade to go along with it. I don't plan to do either the HFC or intake upgrade... in other words, just the Gemini CBE. How does this sound on its own??? Is it still the nice low burble that I am looking for? No rasp or wheezing sound after stepping off the gas? (I have heard this wheezing sound on several you tube vids... when the person steps off the gas.... weird.). Does any one have just vids of the gemini installed with no other mods??? That's what I am looking for.

I have heard it on a friends car before the intakes were done and he does not have HFC's. It still sounded great! I love my HKS, but the invidia sounds great too.

The 'wheezing' you speak of is a deceleration hiss that any exhaust with a X-Pipe will have.

The intake will not affect the sound of the exhaust. The exhaust alone sounds deeper than the stock exhaust for sure. Gives it a healthy powerful sound. There was no deceleration "wheeze" either. Adding a HFC will enrich the deep throaty growl. Regarding that deceleration wheeze, i don't notice it inside the car and it's only faintly noticeable outside.

This video is the best review/comparo of the Invidia Gemini that I've found. He also uses a Db meter to measure the volume between the different set ups.

Just mounted the Invidia Gemini a couple of weeks ago. A nice deep throaty sound with stock cats. Not too loud, just right. Bought, shipped, and professionally installed for less than 900 bucks. You cannot beat that for value.

Guys thanks so much for all your input... I think I will be going with the Invidia Gemini rolled tips... all I am worried about now is the SS or the titanium blue hue?!?!?!?! What do you guys think? My concern with the blue hue is that it looks ricey? But I think it's very cool... am worried about what other folks will think once they see it on my car....

thoughts?

First of all, it's your car. Do what YOU want and what YOU think looks good. Nevermind what others think of your car. Having said that, I'm not a fan of the burnt titanium look, so I went with the SS. The color of your car (white) will go with either option, whereas the Ti with 40th quartz doesn't look right to me.

I got the rolled SS tips and am very happy with that choice. The Ti tips are a bit too flashy for me. I feel like the rolled SS still looks beefy, but a bit more serious. I'm not really interested in picking up attention from ricers or the police because of bright blue exhaust tips.

Those are my primary concerns too... ricers and cops.... no extra attention needed. I like your comments on SS being more "serious" and "beefy". Also, I heard that sometimes the blue hue varies in degree with each batch :eekdance:

Exhaust Name: Fast Intentions Non-Resonated TDX
Quality: Great (5 out of 5)
Fitment/Looks: No fitment issues, it gives the non-stock look, it sits at the lowest level of the stock exhaust but just gives a lower look.
Sound: I have not heard of resonated versions, but my non-res has a loud growl up to 3k RPM, and sounds very exotic from there on out esp. 4k to 5k RPM. I am running on stock HFC and stock intake, and with the non-res it sounds aggressive. And the great part is its not annoying aggressive but i-want-my-car-to-sound-like-that aggressive when you hear it.

Note: I have not done Dyno yet, but other owners can attest to the HP gain. And I can definitely tell that the car is more responsive. If there was a downside, the only thing I would complain is that when under 3K RPM and my windows are all closed, I get a wierd vibration in my dash. But, I always have my windows down, thanks to Cali weather.

Overall, two thumbs up for FI TDX!

My vote goes to Exoticspeed RII Titan PWR, which they now deliver with X-Pipe.
Glorious sound on my ZR & the butt dyno grandly approves ;-)

I think I've narrowed my choices down to Berk or Invidia CBE (stock cats). Anyone know if the Invidia sits lower than the Berk? I have a b*%ch of a driveway and I don't want to scrape. From youtube vids I like the sound on both, deep and exotic, not raspy or too loud. Anyone who has heard both think that is accurate?

F.I. sits lower then stock by couple inches. It's the lowest part of the car and it could give you clearance issues if u lower ur car more than 1in

I don't have a straight on shot at the moment, but here is an angled shot from both sides. The muffler piece is right at stock height, so no scraping. The FI has the individual cans sitting much lower than stock.

Also, I love my Invidia sound... very happy with it.

Don't need to worry about scraping with the invidia. Pretty sure it sits slightly higher than stock.

Gonna go with the Berks. The sound is gorgeous, they don't sit low, and from other threads it seems Invidia has some QC issues lately.

:icon14: huh?

Where did you read that? I haven't read or heard of a single quality issue with invidia. If anything, it's Berk that has had quality issues, esp with fitment, which is part of the reason why I didn't get berk.

My invidia set was flawless... both in design, build, and installation/alignment. I'm sure other invidia folks on here like RedZed and djpathfinder can test.

Either way, good luck with your berks if you get em.

I've read that thread before... that's the only one I've seen with someone having issues like that. What "other like it" have you seen?

Aside from that, the OP of that particular thread updated it with the resolution of the first issue, by the x-pipe. He didn't install the OEM cat bracket after putting test pipes on. Since re-installation, no issues. Now as far as the exhaust hanger bracket crack, it looks like that is indeed an issue. So far, only he has had the issue. Folks in that thread and elsewhere on this forum have had thousands of miles on their Gemini's with no issue. I personally am very satisfied with mine.

Like I said, Berk is a great exhaust too, but has issues of its own too. Just do a search for Berk exhaust, and I remember reading one where the exhaust was way misaligned by over an inch or so.

So just make sure you do your research and decide accordingly. Each has its pros and cons.

whoady4shoady 05-16-2011 09:28 AM

Personally, I dont think anything can touch the look, sound, and gains of FI.

I love FI too... I thought the look was a little too flashy for me however, couple that with the very low hanging muffler which I would worry about scraping ALL the time, plus the cost.... hence why I went Invidia.
