Greddy TI-C Silencers Removed, Video
Well after some thought I decided to remove my silencers from my Greddy exhaust. As I've stated before, I love anthing that has to do with an exhaust being loud and raspy. That's me. Plus I like the way they look now without the small holes. I didn't get a chance to start it up yet. :shakes head: Can you believe that. I will tomorrow though. Should sound great IMO. Plus it should free up a little HP.
The removal was pretty simple after I found the correct tool to pull them out. All I did was remove the three bolts that hold the the tip on. Sprayed the the lip around the silencer with some PB blater and let it sit for a few. To pull the silencers out I found a old shock I had from my 350 hatchback. If anyone knows what it looks like it has a small ball joint on the end that can't come off. So I took it and put it up into the exhaust just past the silencer and give it a couple little test pulls to make sure it would hook the outside lip of the silencer within the exhaust. I felt it would grap a hold pretty well without slipping. So I went with it. Came out pretty easy with a quick short burst. Reinstalled the tips and good to go. Here's some quick pics. I'll post some more tomorrow. I've been running around with my head cut off these last two days. So enjoy. Before (this is with the tips removed) http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...ilencer001.jpg Silencers Themselves http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...ilencer005.jpg After with tips back on http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...ilencer007.jpg |
The greddy sound on the VQs is my favorite! i didnt even bother with my silencers. i took them right off before i installed the exhaust.
Post a video clip if you get a chance  |

Update
Here a quick video of my exhaust setup with silencers removed. This baby is loud. Especially at 3000 range. When driving at this range it creates a nasty drone inside the car. Cruising isn''t so bad. But this is "not' for everyone. If my car was a DD I wouldn't have it. And I love loud. I don't know what I'm going to do on long trips. http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...deo/th_001.jpg |
that sounds really good bro, i gotta make a clip of mine after i install my res. test pipes to compare
|
awesome! how long it took you to remove the silencers and how much till it will take to install it again?
|
Sounds great, now do you have the GTM test pipes on this set-up? How's the rasp compared to with the silencers, any difference?

Did you ever have the CBE installed by itself without the Test pipes? I'm interested if the exhaust alone is raspy or if its the combo with the test pipes. |

Non resonated

woow, I was planing on taking them off yesterday but didn't have time
now I'm gonna take them off asap I have HFCs on my Z so it might sound different I'll post a vid if turns to be Quote:

Non resonated means there just pipes. Like straight pipes. No materials on the inside to slow or restricted flow. Also the resonated pipes help with emissions a little more.

@Staples, i have the ti-c exhaust on my G37 and it sounds great. However they are different systems. Greddy makes the ti-c for the Z in 80mm turbo true dual piping and the G's system is a regular 60 or 70mm piping that is Y-pipe back. So for a G you would also need a y-pipe to make it a complete catback

I tried to take them out today but without using PB or anything and it was dam hard to pull them out. so am gonna buy some today but wanted to ask is it gonna be a bit stuck after I spry it ?
|
They can seem stuck even after you spray them. Main thing is to get an solid object up in the exhaust that will hook the silencers and just use quick short burst at 12, 3, 6, 9 o'clock. My passenger side came out with one pull, but the other side was a little tougher.
|
With that being said.... Does anyone not need/want their silencers? I just bought a used tic and I don't think it has silencers in it. Thanks in advance.
