Motordyne ART pipes review-Dyno inside

OK, well i took the day off today to go ahead and do a review...temp outside was about 75 with 50% humidity, 93 octane on a DYNOjet. I have the print outs which i will scan tomorrow but here is the actually file...its a little messy, its like 6 pulls on on chart, but they were having some problems with the system...And as before with my previous dyno exp there, they had problems with TQ reading :( BUT the HP gains were Solid...AGAIN sorry for the messy chart( i will clear it up for tomorrow)

MODS:
AFE drop in
HPS post MAFS
ART PIPES
everything else is stock

Final numbers with those 3 mods was 296rwhp

my previous was 285rwhp wihtout the ART pipes

i dont have a scanner here at home so i will have to wait till i get to work tomorrow to upload the printouts

my next mod will be a Motordyne XYZ pipe and Top Speed exhuast and then a tune

11 hp isn't bad at all! I can't wait to get mine I wish they would hurry along the production of these things.

Kastley85891 02-23-2011 11:24 PM

296 - exact the same as me with these fitted... ;-) Nice

You will love the TS CBE, I am really interested to see how it sounds with these.

Hey man,

YGPM

AlphaSnacks 02-24-2011 01:08 AM

Had these on my 350Z and they were great.

Looking forward to cleaner dyno chart. Curious what the area separation is to see how much power was gained throughout.

If you can get me the drfs I can make all sorts of graphs that point to gains trhoughout the rev range. Also, I might be able to clean up the weird tirque data -- it might have done that because the dyno was torque over wheel speed rather than engine RPM.

Also... a couple of those runs are in a different gear -- looks like 4th (up to 125) and 5th (over 140).

red6spd 02-25-2011 02:23 PM

11 hp is a great gain. But thats around the same as most people are seeing with plain TP. Correct me if I am wrong? But not having rasp might be worth the price alone.

I called them, they said they would send them over this afternoon. And yeah the 289 was done in 4th, i reminded them that 1:1 is 5th on 6mt 370...i dont understand why they have so trouble with the TQ reading

Is that JUST test pipes? Or after exhaust? That could make a big difference.

On the 350z forum, the ART pipes definitely made like 5-6whp more than the test pipes.

Well, I don't have a 370z. My friend (red6spd) has one so I said wth and joined lol. I have an Accord 6MT :p

I know a decent amount about the VQ motors though and can say you will LOVE your full exhaust.

It might smooth once converted to RPM. Could be a glitch in interpolating by MPH with data from two different gears -- dunno, I'll play with it and try to fix when I get them.

Oh, and thanks again -- I appreciate it!

I apologize if this has been covered before, but can someone explain the design of these pipes? They certainly are unique, and I'm assuming the construction has to do with fluid dynamics to maximize flow and create a specific sound but they do look a bit odd.

Isamu 03-04-2011 05:27 AM

so these would show greater gains on my Nismo over a standard 370z?
because 11hp is a pretty decent gain especially for the price.
and noob question, but what are post mafs tubes..
Im going to guess the piping from behind the MAF to the intake mani? or am i way off?

You are correct. It seems that with replacing the stock tubes and air filter with a drop-in you can gain around 8 whp. True the stillen CAI gains 17.5 at the top, but the install/filter cleaning requires bumper removal (not a big deal) as well as some dremel work on the core support (install). Many people on here are going with just hoses and drop-ins as their intake mod as the stock set-up is already pretty efficient. I think I may do the same. And you save at least $300 in the process.

excellent. and the drop in's are just a better flowing filter?
sorry, for sounding so ignorant on the subject. I'm just used to CAI.

BLM 03-04-2011 08:31 AM

The drop-in's flow better and the pipes provide for a smoother path of air inlet.
