^^ haha that guy is me.

and the test pipes are nothing fancy or anything. just straight thru tp with o2 extender. non resonated.

similar to this:

ahhlun 03-22-2012 02:19 AM

does anyone know if installing a HFC or resonated test pipe will void warranty more than a plain CBE install.. e.g. does it give Dealer easier time to avoid warranty.

I know even installing CBE might void it, but im not too worried about that part.

edub370 03-22-2012 07:44 AM

nope. none of the above will void a warranty. the only parts of the warranty it voids are the oem parts that you took off the car.

The Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act prevents dealerships from voiding warranties because of aftermrket parts, unless it can be proven that a failure (i.e. engine, trans, etc..) was a direct result of the part.

Unless of course the dealer is a d*ck and wants to blame your engine failure on the loss of back pressure caused by the HFC... which isn't unheard of. :shakes head:

Wish they made this for the G with a x pipe .. Would be all over this ...

Has anyone weighed one of these exhausts?

edub370 03-25-2012 03:17 PM

sure haven't. never really thought to do it before i put mine on

Bandit_Kaine 08-11-2012 12:38 PM

anyone here still running this?

Does it drone at all in any rpm?

Can you compare how loud it is to say stock?

i'm running AAM short tails but it just drones too much at 4k rpm and its way to loud.

Cell 08-11-2012 12:55 PM

I am still running it. Doesn't drone with stock cats. The sound isn't that loud after breaking in. Just a tad louder than the Nismo exhaust. If you want louder, should go for another exhaust. Or get this setup with test pipes. Then you will probably have drone with the tests.

daisuke149 08-11-2012 01:00 PM

I used to have this with ART pipes and it wasn't loud and didn't drone.

If it weren't for the fact that the fit was pretty awful I might have maybe kept it. Although I wasn't a huge fan of the sound it made. It just seemed a little flat, didn't carry any sorta distinguishable tone.

edub370 08-11-2012 05:51 PM

Still no drone with test pipes. My vid has test pipes on it.

zefaulter 05-08-2013 07:46 PM

I think this thread is worth bringing back to life! :D

Just curious, I will only have this as intake/exhaust mod for now, I keep reading it's not much louder than stock just deeper. few questions:

1. how long are the resonators? 14"? 18"?
2. piping diameter is 60mm according to the first post. that's 2.36". Do other exhaust brands have the same diameter and just round the number to 2.5" for marketing purposes? I'm guessing difference could result in possible lower gain. but then again, I know, wider isn't always better.
3. Does any company provide pre-fabricated straight-pipe/X-pipe mid section replacement over the resonated pipes in this system? there is always the "custom" route but I'm just wondering

zefaulter 05-18-2013 03:04 PM

Ok I have answers to couple of my questions.
Resonators are 14". For the most part, pipes are 2.5" except flex pipe inlets. Those are 2.36"=60mm
Car sounds slightly lower than stock but way deeper. Still haven't driven the car yet. Install was super easy, so far no leaks

Any dynos so far? What kind of power does this exhaust add??

SATX_NISMO 05-21-2013 02:33 PM

Anyone know for sure if this CB will fit a Nismo? Web site says it will not.

No dynos yet I believe. I did a pretty long search once for them.

Happy with their test pipes so far. Would probably get this if dyno results were significantly better than stock.

chrischhorn 05-23-2013 10:32 PM

I did a dyno but the dyno times were so far apart they kinda dont work. Originally my car did 276 whp. With the CNT it did 287whp but no power was made until after 6700rpms. BUT the thing is, original dyno was done in March at around 50-60 degree temps. CNT exhaust was done in July which was dead in the center of summer in TEXAS. 100 degrees easy. The only downfall to this exhaust is the weight. Its probably about the same weight as OEM. Quality is decent but over a long period of time I could probably see issues. Fitment was kinda bleh for me. Most people had no issues.

zefaulter 05-26-2013 08:46 AM

I'm thinking about getting a exhaust shop build 2 pipes so I can replace the 2 Resonators. It'll be a direct fit/replacement, no chopping necessary. for days I want to have a louder exhaust... Any comments?

Louder is better, but removing the resonators may not be the best as choice as they usually help in filtering out rasp and drone.

Hmmm, how bad is rasp? I've never heard rasp so I don't know what it is

These motors are known to be raspy. Sort of like a high pitched scratching sound; you have to hear it.

I found this video with a similar combo, removed the resonator from invidia.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkgiNisFx60

This video best shows rasp with the stock exhaust and no resonators

zefaulter 05-26-2013 05:37 PM

That's not too bad, I think I'm gonna do it:tup:...more reps your way

This is my fix for the rattle, just wanted to share.

zefaulter 06-12-2013 10:13 PM

Had to check the car again, I could hear more noise. Found out the passenger side muffler is in direct contact with this shield thing which I don't know what it is. I don't think I can remove that either. Any suggestions? For now I placed a piece of rubber in between which eliminated the noise but the tip on the passenger side is now hanging slightly lower than driver side's http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/06/13/u8e9uby5.jpg

edit: nevermind, just found my answer... that seems like it's the fuel line cover and it can be removed

edub370 06-13-2013 08:19 AM

yep. have to remove that piece for almost every catback install

zefaulter 06-13-2013 10:05 AM

Something about heat and fuel outside the engine doesn't sit well in my mind

ZziK 10-15-2013 07:53 AM

Does anyone have sound clips with this exhaust and HFCs?

chii370 10-15-2013 08:12 AM

Too quiet, with same high pitched tone as stock. Pass. LOOKS nice though.

I could get one with my phone before I leave work. It'll be cold start which is louder than normal operating condition

Yeah that's not overly raspy.... It actually gives the Z some unique character... Go for it. mine has minor rasp. I only hear it once twice a month. No biggie.

exhaust started to rattle against lower brace around 2.5k rpm to 3k rpm. I put a couple of piece of rubber in between, it's way worse now feels like it's shaking the whole car

Edit: fixed. Re adjusted 4 bolts, it is awesome again

Tribalpinoy91 04-15-2014 12:08 AM

Anyone know when these will be back in stock? Its been months now..

zefaulter 10-08-2014 09:22 PM

For whoever is interested in this exhaust, once you get it, make sure you get the H pipe portion welded. There is exhaust leak and noticeable power loss because of it.

bvdawg13 10-29-2014 05:18 PM

On my 2013 Z, I had this exhaust with test pipes. Always had that raspy exhaust leak on the decel, had the H pipe welded and still continued to hear that leak, but not as bad as before the weld.

I am considering this exhaust, any long term issues?
