Growl !!!

I think the sound of these pipes from the outside whether it's take off or pass by sound like a real race exhaust compared to a lot of the other pipes "bumble bee" sound. These pipes have a growl to them that I don't hear on any of the others. I am going to order

Asheth 04-16-2009 05:12 PM

So what tips will be available at launch of this exhaust? Slanted SS? Blue tips are def not my thing. Also would you be able to ship to APO? I have just 3 months left in this Dustbowl and this is the exhaust that interests me the most, I do still want to see what borla comes to the table with. But I want to be right for the Autobahn to test against those Caymans :driving:

Skorch 04-16-2009 05:31 PM

Adjustable tips is such a great feature. Possibly in the future you could offer quad tips such as those on the Zele.

Endgame 04-16-2009 06:29 PM

Hmmmm.. These are looking good. I LOVE the TI Tips...

Forumite 04-17-2009 05:44 AM

Price is great, sound is great, power gains are above average. I just dont know if I want those blue tips. Not really going to flow well on a yellow car that's blacked out.

I think burnt TI tips looks sexy on Yellow. Gives it a nice contrast.

The fly by sounded good, but the take off, it sounded like it was rattling. If it had less rattle and more deeper tone to it, I think that would sound better. But so far all the exhaust i've heard so far for this car I haven't really liked. Either the sound is not deep or loud enough. Some of them are just to tamed.

arcticreaver 05-01-2009 12:50 AM

okay guys i got this baby installed. actually, i think it just might sound better than the prototype ones that amplified got for there Z since Paul wanted to trade with me

here are some pics that i took when i got home. really really bad quality since it's freakin' dark out in CA tonight and my camera is like 5 years old.

i'll take better pics tomorrow.

Skorch 05-01-2009 11:49 AM

Just ordered mine. I assume it comes with all the bolts/gaskets, right?

Nice pictures. I ordered the same exhaust. After seeing your pictures, now I'm wondering if we'll be on our backs polishing that big beautiful muffler! Ow, my aching back!

yeah i was wondering about that the other day. also wondering if the tips need extra care other than a good wash and dry.

Consider getting yourself some Simichrome. You can find it at motorcycle stores or order it when you find the best price.

Thanks for the reply man! We gotta meet up one of these days. And I'll be looking for the Simichrome polish when I hit autozone or kragens. hopefully they have some around.

Another excellent one that is readily available at most auto parts store is Mothers Incredible Billet Metal Polish (it works on other metals too).

Yep, you missed a great chance to meet up when you were messing around installing your Invidia exhaust with Lou! ;)

I think I'm asking a stupid question but can the Mother's Billet be applied by hand??

Yes, that's the preferred method; use sparingly as a little goes a long way (same with Simichrome).

Cool, thanks again!!

redline2009 05-04-2009 02:43 PM

sounds a little ricerish to me, it needs more burble to it; it is a muscle car, isn't it?!

The problem with every exhaust video is that there is no standard, and I don't believe I've heard a one that has actually been recorded with professional equipment to try to replicate the actual sound. Borla got lambasted on theirs sounding too raspy, but I believe it was the poor mic used in the point-n-shoot camera they used to take the video. You can get the basic gist of the sound, but that's about it.

arcticreaver 05-04-2009 04:52 PM

mine is a point and shot digi cam from sony. it is like 5 years old. you'll have to excuse the video and sound quality.

The Simichrome works great, I've used it hundreds of times on aluminum parts, only problem is that it strips the anodizing off and then you have to constantly polish to get that shine back, otherwise it will turn your parts greyish. The muffler is Stainless so I don't think it will have the same effect, I've never tried it on stainless.
