It won't increase the volume much, but it noticeably changes the tone. The exhaust sounds deeper with a little less rasp but obviously, the largest advantage is that it can flow much more exhaust and be less restrictive than the puny OEM Y pipe.

I'm hoping it will give me a little more of a growl with my muffler delete pipes...

I'll post a DIY as well as a before and after sound comparison.

:-D

I snagged one...might as well try it out and see.

Actually... it's not really loud.

It's hard to fathom, however you'd be surprised as to how restrictive and acoustically suppressing the factory exhaust is. Removing the muffler really just adds a deeper tone to it.

any thoughts on this Megan Racing Y Pipe? Megan Racing. I still don't understand why the higher end Y pipes have a dual 2.3" when stock is 2.5"?

I bought that same exact y-pipe from that eBay seller about a month ago. Installed it about a week ago along with ERZ cats (still stock muffler). Fitment wasn't bad, but not as perfect as I would have liked. (Loose fitted, things were off about 1/2".) Everything bolted up and came together though. They did send the wrong gasket with the y-pipe, so I had to reuse the OEM one.

Since both were put on at the same time, I can't say for sure how the y-pipe alone changed things, but with them both, there's definitely a HP increase and the sound is a little louder, but a similar sounding to stock. On cold start, there seems to be a little rasp. Since it's relatively new, I don't know if that'll go away or not. Once it has warmed up, at idle, it sounds exactly the same as stock. WOT, though, it's definitely louder. I'm getting my car UpRev tuned tomorrow, so I should be able to get a dyno read of what these did for the car.

Here is a crappy video I made of my muffler delete pipes...

I'll hope another one once the Y pipe is on.

I installed one of these obx style Y-pipes along with test pipes over the weekend (waiting on my CBE to arrive).. Sounds like total dog poop! It's almost comical when you hear just how horrific it sounds when hooked up to the stock cat back.

Just an FYI :)
