BERK HFC's.... Gasket between cats and exhaust mani??

I have been having issues with raspiness with my Berk HFC's and Stillen CBE... im 100% sure i've got all the slip joints 100% sealed up and that helped the sound a lot... but im still getting some rasp around 4k to 5k rpm. I crawled under the car and noticed that the shop that installed the HFC's only used some sort of sealant between the HFC's and the exhaust manifolds. It's orange color and im sure it's some sort of high temp sealant. The shop works on Ferrari's etc. so i trust they know what they're doing, but is there supposed to be a gasket there or is the sealant sufficient? That is the only other place i could possibly be getting some "leakage".

All other bolted joints have gaskets and are super snug!

Thanks in advance.

There should be gaskets between the HFC's and the Exahust Manifold....Berk supplies the gaskets to go with the HFC's...Most shops will add on that high temp sealant (Orange Color) as an addition.

wtf... as far as i remember... Berk only supplied the 2 gaskets that have 2 holes that are used on the flange that bolts to the exhaust. I don't remember seeing a 3 hole gasket that was supplied with the HFC's.

Your supposed to reuse the metal gasket. Berks only supplies the gasket to the exhaust. Using silicone is a cheap work around. If you start it cold and hear a exhaust leak? check around the sliconed area for black exhaust soot, this is a sign there is a leak. The rasp is normal, the hfc's actually magnify the rasp, because of the improved exhaust flow.

I ended up getting part number 20692-65j00(this one goes between the y-pipe and mid-pipe before the resonators) aswell and berk part number bt1406 and it says all y-pipe/cat high temp graphite w/ss fire ring gasget(these go between the hfc and the y-pipe). I didn't end up using either one of these as i did not need them.

I've heard the Stillen catback with high flow cats and it seemed pretty raspy to me. Each person is different though. One person will say there's no rasp, others might say it sounds like a Civic.

So from the factory there is no gasket between the manifolds and the cats? I don't see one in the diagram.

Thank you.....you are a life saver...I was freaking out!

My berks cats came with the three hole gaskets that go between the cats and manifolds. I was told to reuse the copper gaskets to seal it to the h-pipe.
