HFC, CEL light issues!

HFC, CEL light,

How much of an issues is this?
I really would like to add Berk’s HFC bolt on's, but if it means having to lift and getting under the car even every once in a while to correct CEL light issues, I would rather pass on HFC, for now, unless there are some long term fix's ? Steel wool not an option for me "lol"

How have your HFC handle CEL light issues?
Which brand HFC has fewer issues with CEL light coming on?

Thanks,

Alex

Berk has a built in CEL fix. It just extends the O2 sensor out of the exhaust stream to prevent the CEL light from coming on. Stillen on the other hand does not have this feature but you can add the bung to extend it out, but that is just more $$$.

I just got my Berk HFC's in the mail and they look great! I will be installing them this weekend. I say you contact Kyle at import parts pro. He was running a group buy and I think it is still going. That best price out there right now! Hurry before it's to late!

Good luck

Hi Alex,

I could swear I saw a ranking of HFC brands linked with CELs. I tried to search for it, but couldn't relocate it. I seem to remember FI had the fewest, with more attributed to brands that offered higher flow rates.

I'll keep looking - if I find the thread I'll repost.

You've got the mod bug bad, my friend!

Hi,
What’s really bugging me is a high pitch noise I’m getting , in the engine bay, I’m pretty sure it’s my ECM, or ECU module ?
I did some quick research on this topic found some dated stuff noting really new.

Taking it over to Nissan around 4:00pm today , let you know what’s up when I get back.

Let me know if you find anything on this or the HFC!

Thanks , :tiphat:

Alex

I've had the Berk's for about 6k miles now and no CEL light, like others have said, there is a built in O2 extender to prevent this.

If you get TP or HFC with long j-tubes, you shouldn't ever have an issue with CEL...at least to date, I'm ok....knock on wood...damn...probably JINXd by now....

What'd they tell you about the noise Alex? Or did the just recommend getting HFC's and headers so you don't hear it anymore:rolleyes:

I've heard of the Berks HFC's throwing CEL's. I have the Stillen HFC's with their CBE. And I've had them on for over a year with over 10,000kms. Never had any issues... no CEL's. I think that you will find there is no problems with the Stillen parts. The Berk's on the other hand...?

Dave,
They agreed that there was a high pitch noise - sound coming from the engine bay, appeared to be coming from the throttle area under the cover, they are willing to address the issue.

With the engine off and in natural no sound, the minute I but in gear with the engine off I get the high pitch sound? The high pitch noise – sound, stays on for a few second after I turn off the engine as well?

That being said, I told them not to make a separate appointment for it, since I would be in to have my HFC installed within a week or so, we would deal with then.

Thanks,
Alex

I would have gone with Stillen , but I wish they would have inculed the supports for the brace on their HFC , like Berk's HFC.

Thanks,

Alex

Do you know where you got your info? I am sure there would be interest to your findings :)

ERZ HFCs for a few thousand miles, and no CEL once I tightened the driver's side o2 due to my ex-mechanic forgetting to tighten it.

USE THE SEARCH function.... up top

BTW, "My findings"? I just stated in my first post (please read it) that my experience was that I had no issues with the Stillen HFC's & CBE after 1 year and over 10,000kms use. I didn't state anything EXCEPT for the fact that "I heard" that the Berk's HFC's have thrown CEL's. And for that info, you should utilize that "search function" up top.
