Caravanshaka 07-28-2010 02:18 PM

Im being told that installing intake increases HP but lowers bottom end torque is it worth the loss of torque

Corpse 07-29-2010 08:26 AM

I searched caravan intake but just showed a dodge caravan intake

Sibze 07-29-2010 08:29 AM

haha no Caravan (Caravanshaka) is the person. He has the injen intakes however he had them powder coated and now he is selling his z.

Follow this link: http://www.the370z.com/parts-sale-pr...estar-etc.html

I owned a 300ZX when I was younger so have always had a thing for Zs thank you so much for the advice friend. Hard not to get on this car but trying to break it in im at 1500 miles so far

Sibze 07-29-2010 08:44 AM

No problem man! He is asking $400 for them which is a really good deal. 1. they are $550 new and 2. they have been powder coated

Corpse 07-29-2010 08:56 AM

Ok you say they look Red i prefer red over orange money isnt the issue looks are plus is it true i lose torque when I had HP he may have whole car sold

Caravanshaka 07-29-2010 08:59 AM

Orange in absolute direct sunlight and under camera flash, but it's a metallic red in 90% of lighting conditions. Here is the color on a black car:

Corpse 07-29-2010 09:32 AM

SWEET!!! I like it will check on those with caravan but tell me do they hurt torque. And whats the deal with custom headlights if im asking to many questions im sorry but the only way to learn is to ask. Ill send you my first born

Caravanshaka 07-29-2010 09:36 AM

They don't really hurt torque, but they don't add a lot of power until about 6500 RPM, thats where it adds around 10ish HP.

Custom headlights are blacked out, with color matched shrouds and LED's down the landing strip.

Corpse 07-29-2010 09:40 AM

where do i find headlights

Caravanshaka 07-29-2010 09:41 AM

I believe MRworks does them...they have a section at the bottom of the forum.

I did my own, and have done a couple other sets, but don't have much time anymore to be doing them since I have a 3 mo old baby.

To avoid starting a new thread, can somebody point me in the direction of an Injen CAI installation DIY? Thanks in advance.

Cant find one in the DIY section - Stillen Gen 3 is there not Injen unfortunately. Sure I can follow Injens instructions but there are always small details that you learn from individual peoples installations.

Funny story...
At college I lived in a house with 8 other dudes, mainly from my track team. But there was one guy who lived with us that was a friend of a friend - and most of us didnt get along with him.

One day were chilling watching tv and a caonversation springs up about STD's/STI's. Through the conversation somebody says something along the lines of: "Its the permanent diseases you gotta watch out for, the curable ones suck but its not the end of the world". The dude we dont particularly like says "Yeah like herpes is ok, you can get rid of it". We all look at him like, uhhh dude herpes is with you for life. He proceeds to tell us we are wrong and he would know because he had it and now its gone!

We lost our **** laughing at this. The look on his face was priceless.

The instructions from Injen are excellent. Easier to do than the Gen3, and the Gen3 install was pretty easy.

I know the location of the filters is different but I know there's the issue of the AC lines with the gen3. Little quirks like that is what I'm most interested in.

ncheung85 07-31-2010 12:10 AM

Stillen and Injen are the way to go.

I went with the black Injen CAI.

Injen intake are fairly easy to install. The instruction has really good clear pictures. For this setup, you need to change the stock windshield water reservoir with the one Injen provided. Because the stock one won't fit with the intake.

I heard for the Stillen one if you dont install it correctly, the intake can damage the ac hose. And you will also need to do some cutting on your car.

The car does sound a little louder from the front. And if you listen closely to the intake you can hear the whooshing. As for the Hp increase, I cant really tell from driving. It feels about the same with the stock intake.
