nice any clearance issues?

2004YZFR1 07-27-2010 07:35 PM

Is that a ding on the right can? That would really piss me off if I waited that long and it came in with a ding! Nice system.

Jamaica 07-27-2010 07:37 PM

I would love to hear it!

well there is a very small ding but what you see is dirt :shakes head: system has been used for 100miles. so cant be perfect, but besides that everything is sweet, clearance is perfect and im lowered 1.5" f/b  videos will be ready tomorow. we got some nice shots tonight and im waiting on my buddy to email me the goodies

good luck man, i know megan went through some quality issue back in the day, (my test pipes cracked+ y cracked) but i think they have stepped it up. Thier warranty dept is decent

sinceday1 07-28-2010 03:12 PM

Looks EXACTLY like AP exhaust. Maybe re-branded?

Daishi 07-28-2010 03:36 PM

Ugh, polished stainless steel piping, TIG welding, and decent quality mufflers.

Better than the Stillen exhaust.

I don't know if it's just me because I've welded up a few exhausts myself, but I realize that all of this stuff is the same. You're paying for a brand name in most cases, or for the alleged R&D of a relatively simple set of pipes. The only thing you're really gambling when you buy an exhaust like this is fitment.

I'm tempted to buy this and just add in a cross piece to make it an H-pipe system.

updated with videos :D

Yeah, just tried some test pipes...butt dyno says gain, but shockingly, can't hear it that much. Probably going to fab some magnaflow 6" race cans on my Nismo. That huge can is the death keeper of sound....So sad....

no with stock it wont be much louder. but if you mix your tp's with an aftermarket CB its another story my man

wrong.. not all exhausts are made the with the same quality steel etc.. buddy of mine has megan headers and hes on his 3rd set because the welds keep cracking, megan keeps replacing them but I wouldnt even bother.. and thats just one example of many all over the internet. but there is no winning this argument. Megan parts are cheaper because they are built cheaper and dont last as long but you dont have to take my word for it :)

Yes, there are different gauges of steel, but it matters not for a catback exhaust for an NA car. Very little thermal stress is involved there. Even the crappiest welds would keep the exhaust together. Headers are a different story - thermal stress is exponentially higher at that point in the exhaust.

For what its worth, I put a Megan Racing SS CBE on my '91 300ZX TT a couple of years ago and I love it. It has dual pipes from the CATs coming back to resonated H pipe and then straight back to the tin cans and tips. The pipes are 3" and the tin cans are 7" with 4.25" tips. Each tin can/tips have a double baffle that is removable, thereby making it essentially straight pipes off the CATs. With the baffles installed, it is as quite as the OEM exhaust. With the baffles out it has a nice low sound, but not real loud due to the TTs and the CATs. The system has been great for me & cheaper than OEM. ..... and it was bolt on with good fitment.
