best advice for this.

besides the fact i think there are only like 5 of these ever made? i may still buy the one a forum member has for sale just to have lol

Dustin@Z1 01-26-2013 08:17 AM

I think we may still have ours boxed up here at the shop if interested. PM either me or Jon.

edub370 01-26-2013 09:22 AM

What was the whp loss on this again? Its a shame since these are so beautiful

For looks alone I'd love to have one of this but the price is kinda high for no performance gains. Even if this thing showed some power gains Id already have one lol

Side note I gotta get online soon and order some red line oil from you guys. Gotta do my winter oil change to get ready for spring. Also I just got a barely used z1 34 row off a forum member and meant to ask you guys how much extra oil I need for that?

JC671 01-26-2013 06:12 PM

Wish this intake had some power gains ... As others said I'd jump on this but damn what a shame... I'm not coughing up coin just for eye candy appeal.

Why aren't other companies jumping to make our platforms parts? Geez our market for aftermarket parts especially engine mods is so damn limited.

I would expect a car like a Saturn to have a market this small but come on man. We have a sports car.

SPOHN 01-26-2013 06:20 PM

There's just not power to be made form an intake manifold so when that happens companies will always have a hard time marketing items as such. There's no reason in this economy companies are going to put there profits into R&D.

edub370 01-27-2013 10:35 AM

But that intake manifold makes me happy in the pants when i look at it. A 0hp loss would almost be worth it

SPOHN 01-27-2013 12:43 PM

Just go take care of your feelings and roll over. You'll forget all about it. Lol.

edub370 01-27-2013 02:55 PM

I need a sandwich...

the motordyne intake manifold makes power throughout the band.

Could we get some dyno charts of the kinetix and stock manifolds?

Just to see what the curves look like?

Its also a Nissan product.....from the 350z HR motors lol. Very little R&D required. Just a........."I wonder what would happen if I redrill this manifold to fit....!!!!!" lol.

reldas 01-29-2013 05:54 AM

well it worked and i am happy :)

sixpax 02-10-2013 11:53 AM

i'll take a shot at the polished turd.

It made zero on my car

SS_Firehawk 02-10-2013 02:20 PM

Mine made -2, but a whole lot under the curve, recommend tuning it though.

Mike 02-10-2013 06:35 PM

mine was negligible across the board, even with tuning.

sixpax 02-18-2013 09:55 AM

... we found one that was homeless, so decided to take it in and shelter it with TLC. It might not make any power, but it sure looks cool. Only three were ever made. Going to the dyno in a few weeks (not to get this tested but for a retune as we added a DIS and pulleys since last tune) so don't think it will go backwards on power. Currently at 323.9 ... still have headers to go as well. Supposedly the reason this didn't make power is 99% because of VVEL ... it's sucking in too much air (22% more than stock) and VVEL decides to shut one or the other sides off so not able to take advantage of the extra air. I am hoping someday UPREV figures out VVEL, in which case then we could take advantage of all that extra air volume. Who knows, I am not a automotive scientist. I'm just a fat, old beer drinking retired military guy who happens to own a mid-life crisis 370Z.

Anyway, I think it looks good in there.

Would definitely be interested to see what it does with VVEL tuning. Looks amazing.

Maddog483 03-11-2013 08:56 PM

damn only 5 made......i love the look of this, i would imagine forced induction would work fine with this on.

anybody looking to sell theirs???? lol

Thinking the same thing... I want one for my motor build.

FPenvy 03-11-2013 10:43 PM

I still couldn't see myself paying more than 200-300 for one of these. Not 1k. It's some polished metal welded together to fit. If it was made to make more power or efficient airflow I could see some r&d money.

Regardless still sexy looking. If someone wants to sell there's for like 200 let me know lol

I think for forced induction it very well could be beneficial, especially if the runners are wider than stock.

i think people with FI have tried it and went back to stock plenum while still on the dyno.

That could also be a possibility because of the valve overlap.

I do like the stock engine cover. It really does a nice job covering all the wires and lines.

Luis182117 03-12-2013 10:09 PM

I have the exact same setup as this other guy and we had our cars dynode at the same place but he is getting 10 more horsepower than I am. Can anyone explain this? I had my car tuned as well.

Wonka2581 03-12-2013 10:11 PM

I'm so confused are these things for sale or not? I do want one....

roplusbee 03-13-2013 05:59 PM

I wish they were..................

Unfortunatly not. At this time Kinetix no longer sells this manifold. Used ones have popped up on occasion, but no "new" ones are available.
