I couldn't take it any longer!

All the talk and the video's of after market exhaust's, along with my friends 370Z with a Stillen CBE, I finally pulled the trigger on one. I ordered an Invidia Gemini CBE. The stock exhaust isn't doing it for me anymore, and a little bump in HP & TQ will be nice too. I'll give a review with pics when I have it installed.

Congrats! Can't wait for the write up!

Scott

The stock exhaust is so quiet, Lexus quiet. I'm surprised you didn't go stillen.

My friend has a Stillen CBE, so I wanted something different. I also didn't want it too loud either. From what I understand the Invidia is a little deeper and quieter, so we will see.

I hope you enjoy those burnt tips sticking out about 5 inches past your bumper...

When did you get your Z? There's only so much you can take..especially being on these forums and seeing how much of a difference an aftermarket exhaust can make...both in sound, and power...Congrats and pulling the trigger  I know that you won't regret it...

If you install it correctly they don't stick out at all and they offer SS tips if you don't want the Ti.

You can facepalm all you want. Scroll about halfway down this thread. Apparently, these are as far in as the tips go.

Funny... post 10 and post 22... proves it's an installation issue, or some HFCs are a tad longer than others.

Wow, those tips do look terrible in that color and sticking out that far.

I really don't think some highflow cats are 3-4 inches longer than stock. Maybe 1/4" max give or take.

Zsteve 05-08-2010 03:21 PM

and remember when the exhaust gets hot it expands and the tips will stick out more. Mine are flush when cold and about 1/2 out when hot.

I don't see how it proves that at all. Please clarify.

I ordered the rolled SS tips, I don't like the burnt look either. As far as the tips sticking, they are adjustable. Yes I have seen a couple that stick out but the other do not stick out that far. I will find out very soon and post pics with a review.

fullmonty 05-09-2010 01:09 AM

Congrats! I'd rep you if you bought the ARK exhaust, but not everyone can be as cool as me.

Definite improvement in sound! The tips are adjustable. Mine are also dual-walled SS and they are flush when cool and expand a little when hot. You'll be happy with them, I'm sure.

One sticks out a lot. One doesn't. As has been said, the tips are adjustable.

NXTAZEE 06-01-2010 09:58 PM

Well I had the exhaust put on today and I'm very impressed. The note is nice and deep and burbly and really comes to life at higher rpm's. After about an hour of driving it got even louder, I've heard it will quiet down slightly after it burns in though. The tips are really nice. I had them pretty much flush at first but decided I liked it more when they stuck out about half an inch, probably because of the angled tip. I'll get some pics hopefully tomorrow. Thanks to Lou at Amplified and everyone else who helped in this process. :happydance:

Boost_lee 06-01-2010 11:36 PM

glad you like the invidia. Post sound clips if possible, I'd like to hear this CBE on stock cats

kevr6 06-01-2010 11:49 PM

Invidia tips are adjustable...1st gen pictures below!

Looks nice. Very similar setup to my GReddy SE, which I love. You'll get tons of attention and admirers with those burnt tips and the sound they make. Congrats!

Adjustable Tips FTW! (HKS Hi Power Ti is adjustable as well).

So, OP, any pics/video?:excited:

No, but I could go to the garage now and take a quick pic if you like.

Ok here you go. These are not very good though, car is too tight against the door for good pics.

Very nice. Glad you're enjoying your new exhaust. My exhaust is almost burned in. I think my average shift point is like 6000 RPM after the exhaust install! :icon17: VQ engine produces VERY nice tone with aftermarket exhausts.

P.S. You need to wash your car :)

I know, just trying to find the time to wash it, been very busy lately, Tomorrow I hope. I wash with a foam gun and go over the car twice, once very light to remove the top coat of dirt and a second time to remove the rest. This is very time consuming (1-1.5hrs) but after 6 months and washing during the winter as well, I have no marring at all in my paint. I know I know time to seek counselling.

Nice fitment. Sticks out just enough to know it's not stock.

Yeah, I had it almost flush but like this much better.

NXTAZEE 06-06-2010 01:19 AM

Update time. Man I'm loving this exhaust. Ok, I've got about 300 miles on it now and it has really opened up. It sounds much throatier now and is louder as well, but not too loud either. From 2000 - 3500 RPM's it's deep and throaty and then increases in volume from there. Downshifts are intoxicating. I can't believe how much more I'm enjoying driving with this exhaust over the stock one.

That should be really nice, let us know what you think. The test pipes will make it a little louder I would suspect.

I had to do some surgery to get my single layer tips how I like it. Considering the length difference between the rolled v.s. single layer tips, I think I did pretty good job
