Totally agree buy the tips if you want and just have them weld them on to some piping. Just make sure that if you get them to do the piping that it is mandrel bent if possible and as straight as possible. Should be a very inexpensive mod. And loud.

Gunzero 04-19-2010 09:16 PM

One problem.. I live in the middle of nowhere :/

NewlyIMPORTed 04-19-2010 09:31 PM

how did you get the Z? jk haha well if you want it that bad im sure there has to be a car shop within 50 miles of you

Gunzero 04-19-2010 09:44 PM

Parents! and ah I have to travel at least 100 miles :/ lol.. I tried and failed looking for a shop around my area. They said it would cost around 800 dollars might as well buy a CBE. In my head I was thinking wtf..

fairladyZ34 04-19-2010 11:18 PM

:icon14:, did you mention you only needed the rear portion. they might have thought you wanted a full system..

I'm guessing no. :rofl2:

Gunzero 04-19-2010 11:44 PM

I most definitely did.. the guy was talking about sawing some stuff and welding.. I agreed to it. The next day he was all "it's not cost effective if we do that.. might as well buy some CBE" I left.
Closest to me is like a Midas.. Not sure if they can do it.

khern11 04-19-2010 11:48 PM

maybe you could find someone here on the forum to go get them done and you pay shipping and the cost of the product plus a small fee (if you are willing of course)...idk just a thought

Gunzero 04-19-2010 11:59 PM

Yea exactly what I'm trying to do.. Just waiting on someone that knows how to do it to pm me. Rob@Altered has pm'd me awhile back. "Technically, it can be done, but without your car here to perfectly match and fit it up, we can't guarantee fitment 100% for you. And on top of that, the time and material costs will be pretty steep."
So he recommended a 3'' catback exhaust. spearfish25 got it done for around $150.
If anyone can fabricate me one around that amount please pm me :)

i got quoted 250 for a custom set up like this...too expensive for me tho

I believe spearfish only had turn downs welded... not pipes out the back with tips. If you want tips and pipes out the back, it won't be cheap. Quality pipe and tips, anyways.

You're honestly better off just doing nothing. Save your money. A set of ERZ HFCs ($369 shipped IIRC) will cost you about the same as having custom piping made for your car. And it won't be ghetto!

It would be expensive, last time I just got 2 Magnaflow exhaust tips, double walled, looked really good. cost me 160. So if you want them to not saw off your muffler and so have the gasket part too i'm guessing 250-300

batman_4 04-20-2010 04:15 AM

to get my custom piping it cost me $65 and with tips it came out to $130ish. just recently got hit in the lower left rear so my tip is pushed in, now i will have to go back to the shop and get it fixed :shakes head:

cost him 160$

Just need to find a shop willing to do this and ship it to me :/

efuseakay 04-20-2010 02:09 PM

Sucks you aren't here near Chicago. There's this place by me... they'd do it for cheap. But they only have a crush bender... but with what you want to do, you'd be wasting money on mandrel IMO.

Gunzero 04-20-2010 02:30 PM

Yea I give up.. I'm just going to finish college and get a GT-R.

Not bad. Too bad the pipes aren't mandrel bent. But I guess if you are hacking the muffler off to begin with it doesn't really matter.

mullfer isn't "hacked" off. the pipes bolt on to the rear portion of the mid-pipes...hence you can pop them on and for long trip slap on the stock exhaust within minutes, that's what i do

Gunzero: getting 'mandrel bent' piping for something like this is pointless IMO, its a sound mod not a power mod.

I wasn't using the word in the literal sense... I do that a lot ;)
