Agency Power Exhaust Install & Review

I've been searching for the exhaust system that will give a good deep tone, loud but not obnoxious, nor raspy. Some of my choices included F.I / ARK / HKS. When I was about to pull the trigger on ARK exhaust, Agency Power came out with their exhaust system and I decided to give it a go..

1. F.I: Although I love how they look, sound, and other whole nine yards, I simply could not wait 6 weeks for the system. My vacation plans and other would have been sacrificed in order to receive the product. Also, another factor that pulled me away was clearance issue. Many have confirmed that it's not too much of an issue when it is driven with care and etc, I didn't want to think about exhaust hitting bumps or anything like that (Roads where I live is quite CRAPPY)

2. ARK: Same deal. love how they look, sound .. BUT only thing that diverted me was how low the exhaust sit. also there seems to be quite noticeable muffler hang difference on left and right.. I know It's hard to notice, but knowing that they sit differently, I'm going to constantly look and tell myself I didn't spend 600 more and get HKS...

3. HKS: PRICE! AND SOUND...... Including shipping and tax, it would've been over 2k for just for an exhaust system. Maybe when I graduate from law school and have enough $$ floating around to dump 2k on the exhaust ..maybe. Sound wasn't something I was looking for either.

OK So.. The reason I decided on Agency Power was that it didn't have all the negatives I listed on other exhaust system (It's subjective i know..) BUT with all the sound, albeit short of performance on their Dyno. In wilful blindness, I told myself that they needed to be re-dynoed. their baseline dyno didn't even compare close to other company's claimed HP Baseline to start with.

I'll find out how exactly the exhaust will perform when I put it on a dyno. (SADLY I DONT HAVE BASELINE....)
I'm not even gonna mention butt dyno.. Well I DO FEEL the difference but dat's also subjective.

FITMENT: 9.5/10. Exhaust fits very nicely. There was a MINOR adjustment that needed to be done in order to level the "MUFFLER". Tip aligned without any adjustment. Flanges and gaskets fit perfect, and it all checked out alright! It really was what they said "BOLT ON". Some of you already know how ANAL i was about asymmetry of some xhaust system.
CONSTRUCTION: 10/10 very solid construction. It's not one of those cheaply constructed exhaust system. Good overall thickness to the piping, clean weld. It has very solid feel to it.
SOUND Quality: 10/10. It's still burning composites inside. BUT it sounds amazing. When you fire it up, it produces very deep tone. It pops and crackles from time to time when it decelerates(which I like :bowrofl:). NO HISS. ZERO HISS.. Well I can't really say anything yet cuz my HFC JUST left the port. There should be a follow up on this part with HFC installed in a bout 2weeks. and then sadly my baby will be parked during my vacation..
SOUND-dB level: If you consider stock exhaust as 1/10 and Muffler delete as 10/10, this thing sits somewhere around 6~7. It's not a quiet exhaust system for sure. However, it does not have exhaust noise while idling or cruise. Only when you step on the gas and give it a "GO". I'm a bit worried on this department when I install HFC.. we shall see. Nonetheless, No drone from the exhaust other than below 2000rpm range. dB level inside is def. louder but it does not bring up to a point where it's hard to converse with passenger.

Overall, very pleasant exhaust. I will follow it up with video with more accurate representation of sound level from inside. The video the company posted is not really an accurate representation as it seems to make this exhaust sound like a monstrous addition to the Z..

Videos and dyno result to follow.

Quick phone camera vid on my way to school 2~3 days ago.
Cabin noise in this was louder than now.

looks good, but im curious, it seems like those exhaust openings would restrict air flow, can those pieces be removed?

sinceday1 04-09-2010 08:07 PM

That's just a silencer piece they included. It can be removed. My review is without the silencer.

Red370 04-09-2010 08:13 PM

oh ok, very nice

Nick911sc 04-09-2010 10:25 PM

I'm interested to see a dyno on this exhaust. Do you have a baseline? I see claims online of 10hp gain. I'd hope to see a little higher numbers than that if this is your first breather mod.

The ARK Exhaust does sit low, but when installed correctly both sides are even and sit with no difference....

Clearance issue was my main concern combined with the installed height of the muffler hang. If yours hang equally then kudos to you :) I love how they look. Just wish I had guts to install those and drive around nasty Maritime roads.. :(

So it's been 4 days with my AP exhaust. Exhaust seems to have toned down quite A LOT since the installation. It's very tame while normal driving and screams when under load.

Dyno is scheduled on mustang dyno on 23rd. I'll be installing HFC at the same time.

BaneGrievver 04-13-2010 08:57 AM

On that previous scale of yours where 1 was stock and 10 was a delete, you said the exhaust was like a 6/7. How would you rate it now that it's toned down?

sinceday1 04-13-2010 11:07 AM

It was an arbitrary scale to start with so I don't know... Making an adjustment to that scale would not necessarily give you an accurate representation. BUT if I must, i would say 5~6.
Don't get me wrong, it's still on the loud side. Def. louder than 18" FI exhaust or ARK exhaust (from what I've seen from videos, again, hard to make a comparator group out of those low quality youtube videos) I would rate ARK exhaust sound level somewhere around 3~4/10 loudness.

Exhaust comes with 12" resonator. and tad bit shorter but bigger diameter cannister(which probably contributes to the low frequency rumble) than on F.I exhaust. So if I may make a stipulation, it's probably somewhere near F.I 12" resonator exhaust.
Also, in-Cabin noise quieted down A LOT.
I have a video made on my camera but haven't had chance to upload it yet! I will try to upload it after my Con/prop exam this week.

thank god someone on this forum knows how to put up pics and make a damn video haha im a computer retard

NewlyIMPORTed 04-13-2010 01:40 PM

oh at idle with HFC you def get a rumble BTW and did you notice that with the silencers on it makes this funny fart noise under load haha

LOL no clue, I've never driven it with those god ugly Canadian Tire looking silencer on.

Do you think you have higher frequency sound with HFC vs. stock cats? (comparing with video AP posted.)

NewlyIMPORTed 04-13-2010 09:18 PM

yeah judging by the video i think mine may sound a little throatier but a tad bit more refined around 4k

Flybyenature 08-13-2014 10:44 AM

This review is for the exhaust system alone right? Nothing else?
I ordered mine couple days ago would I need anything else or does it sound really nice already?

Flybyenature 08-15-2014 09:43 PM

??

aszyd 08-15-2014 10:50 PM

What would you like to know? I had this exhaust with HFCs and was not in-love with the sound. The exhaust itself was very well built and fit perfectly. It will probably sound completely different with stock cats.

Flybyenature 08-24-2014 07:56 AM

Just got mine installed! Here's some revving!
I absolutely love it no complaints, sound is great. (silencer caps = off)

Thanks for this review. I'm about to pull the trigger on this. It's on the loud side so I'll be forced to keep the silencers on but I don't like the way the overall tips look with them on. Is there a creative way to keep the silencers on that would disguise the mini-hole appearance? I'm thinking a muffler shop would be able to insert a mesh screen into the main tip to mask it.

i know its old but was this with HFC's or test pipes?

bLKchry370z 10-01-2015 10:18 AM

i just recently installed this exhaust on my 370. i love the sound and fitment was good. definately had some quality welds. the only issue that i have with this exhaust is that from time to time, i get a nice little rattle on either the floor or rear brace when the ac is on. i rechecked to make sure i installed it correctly and all looks perfect. has anyone else noticed this or had any craftsmanship issues with the AP catback??

Lummer 01-08-2016 06:55 PM

Looking to pull the Trigger on the AP Catback System myself.....
Seem like awesome value and volume for the price that's not stupid Money
For the fellow AP Cat installations any more feed back?

Thanks for any advice !

With a Dozen or more Systems available and listening to them all thru Youtube
it's a difficult decision alright
Again....Value and Volume (sound) is all I'm looking for.

Cheers!

Also late, but looking to purchase. Has anyone run this with just a stock set up as far as everything else goes? curious to see how it sounds with stock cats.

madeinjapan 09-27-2016 07:07 AM

I had rattling at the shifter and an adjustment had to be made to tighten up something, didn't ask the dealer what it was they just did it. Problem solved.

Yeah my tips are 4"
Love the system, little louder than others on full open throttle but otherwise very satisfied. Love the inserts if you are going to take a long trip and want a little break from the extra volume. I haven't so far but will definitely keep the inserts.

Mine sound good with the stock cats, fitment at the rear is good. Had a pro shop install it for $200

gryghst 03-29-2017 03:09 PM

If you want to hide the inserts use engine high temp paint and paint them flat black. They will disappear when installed.

Tusharp83 03-30-2017 01:03 AM

Does this exhaust have flex section?
