where is BERK? its monday

1slow370 03-15-2010 02:36 PM

exhaust is supposed to arrive this afternoon i have that and the differential yet to instal so i'll check the pipes when the box gets here and then it will have to wait on install until thursday got the intake, flywheel, sound system, oil cooler and the fluids other than the coolant (which since i'm going 80-20 and it doesn't stop freezing here until late april i'll have to wait on) all done and the wheels are off waiting to get the tires put on them.

Is it mainly guys that have had packages shipped vast distances that are getting them messed up?

Mine happened to be one of the exhausts that was packaged poorly but I think because mine didn't have very far to go it ended up being fine.

I hope you guys with bent pieces get this all straightened out, because once you do, you are going to love this system.

1slow370 03-15-2010 05:08 PM

WOW shocker today package arrived with 1 3" hole in it and other than that in pretty good condition. I checked my parts out and I am ecstatic yet sorry to say that JB1 I do not have your other mid-pipe laid it out and everything lined right up and bolted together easily so it looks good so far will have to wait until thursday or so to actually put it on maybe later depending on when my last axle arrives from Z1. Box was packed great lots of paper and 2 layers of bubble wrap, and the bolt bag was taped to the muffler all of this done before last wednesday so they were on it.

Well they aren't exactly around much to begin with, so it's not surprising. I think someone 'ought to give them a call or PM them (or Mike if he's still acting as agent).

I sent them an e-mail on Saturday with the same info I posted here and I called them today to follow up. I was told they are looking into it and that I will have a reply by the end of the day.

m4a1mustang 03-15-2010 05:46 PM

Hopefully they fix it for you quickly.

I called and talked to Bryan, they have an ex-employee working here on oahu so he's gonna ask if the guy can take a look to see how bad it is.

Anyone here work for UPS? I'd love to show them these threads and get a response from the Brown-Doodoo

It still could have been packed better too.... just saying. We all know that shipping companies like to beat up all the packages...

LateralG'z 03-15-2010 06:13 PM

sorry dude for your luck, they will most likely fix it for you though

Sounds like we all had a big whole in the side of the box. Glad your exhaust arrived OK and you received all the correct parts. At least I made you look :ugh2:

Any word from Berk?

370Zsteve 03-15-2010 07:57 PM

In an attempt to end this thread and focus on the legit Berk threads, my exhaust was installed today withy no issues, everything lines up perfectly. OP's issue is with UPS and their disregard for the products that keep them in business.

g96818 03-15-2010 08:04 PM

^^ thought op's issue was with Berk shipping the wrong part?
in my case, it's possible that either it was shipped already bent or it was damaged during shipping.

Yeah Steve, Berk sent him two driver's side resonators. Berk is still on the hook.

Indeed, my exhaust arrived undamaged (as far as I can tell, without installing it completely) but it did arrive with 2 driver side resonator pipes instead of a drivers side one and a passenger side one... I trust Berk will correct this error swiftly, but so far I didn't hear back from them. (e-mailed on Saturday and called today) Granted, the parts I did received looked great, but I won't be happy until the complete exhaust is on my car, lined up nicely and sounding as I expect it will...

Chris@FsP 03-15-2010 09:15 PM

Every manufacturer screws up now and then, and what makes a company great is how well it handles its mistakes. I'm sure Berk will step up to the plate and make things right.

On a related note, a well known forum sponsor (known for their great products and quality) sent me a completely screwed up exhaust. Just goes to show, it happens to the best of us.

Don't put it on UPS. I have been shipping for my business with them for four and a half years, usually 10 shipments per week and never had any issues. Its probably in the packaging.

Again, JB's issue was never UPS related.

g96818 03-15-2010 10:30 PM

^^ JB's isn't, but i think steve is getting me and JB mixed up as OP. lol
sorry JB, kinda turned into a thread jacking lol.

No worries, my only objective was to warn other Berk CBE owners to check their exhaust before installing. I hope you get your exhaust issues solved ASAP! I am sure it will sound great once all is done...

JB

LOL I received 2 passenger pipes. I private messaged you and Mike. We should be getting this resolved soon.

BerkTech 03-17-2010 05:53 PM

A word on the packaging since this is such a hot topic. We had these boxes custom made for us and they cardboard mess you see on the inside are actually the saddles that hold the system. Instead of putting the box on a pallet or at least dragging the box by its strap they are flipping the box end over end. Imagine what it would look like if you were trying to use a square wheel, that's exactly how UPS is handling the package instead of pulling out the hand truck.

As long as these boxes weren't being tossed around this way the cradles should be holding everything off the ground. Unfortunately they are being handled so roughly that they end up looking like we just threw these pipes in a box with some random pieces of cardboard. The minute I saw how they were showing up we immediately adding a ton of void filling packing paper to keep the support cutouts together even though the boxes are being flipped and rolled. Lots of you noticed this change we put in right away.

Anyhow, JB1 - yes we messed up on packing your order and shipped you two driver side pipes. Don't be pissed at the kid helping out with the packing, I will take the fall on this one since its ultimately my operation here.

If your shop charged you $90 in labor because they had to back out I will take care of that for you. Hey I'm not an unreasonable person and I understand how you feel.

WuTang - We'll get a driver side shipped out to you!

Thanks guys for your continued support. I know this was a little rough and you guys are still sticking by us!

Bryan

great customer service

spearfish25 03-17-2010 06:04 PM

Excellent. I've spoken with JB (he's a local friend) and it sounds like things are being fixed promptly and properly. Well done Berk.

TonyBPD 03-17-2010 06:30 PM

Can't ask for anything more than that!

Chris@FsP 03-17-2010 07:08 PM

See guys, I told ya ;)

Bryan, the packaging on the shipment we received from you today was excellent. Everything was in perfect shape.

1slow370 03-18-2010 02:56 AM

Hey mine arrived fine other than the superficial hole all i'm saying is Instapak expanding foam ;) we use it at work and ship parts that cost 10-60 times what this exhaust does and haven't had one shipping damaged part in a foam filled box. there have been some pallet boxes that weren't strapped down inside a semi that took a forty foot ride through the truck and slammed against the front of the trailer but that thing weighed like 800 pounds and was some semi driver fail.

JB1 03-18-2010 11:36 AM

Thank you

Thank you for solving this issue so well! I greatly appreciate this customer service and makes me feel good about using Berk products, HFC's and CBE, for my upgrades. And I am sure I will be even happier once it's all installed.

g96818 03-19-2010 03:25 AM

Bryan, thanks for asking Aaron to drop by and see the setup.

I kinda noticed the pipes are pretty easy to bend once u bolt it together since it kinda evened it out quite a bit after i forced everything to bolt up on the ground.

So far everything looks ok, i'll keep an eye out for the middle hanger that it's pulling on, but hopefully it settles down and won't be a problem, now i just gotta get that damn bolt off for the cats.

I have to say, so far the sound is

I think with the stock cats, the system is quieter than stock, but my butt dyno definitely feels a difference.

Thanks for the help

Mine is in transit now, ETA middle of next week.

spearfish25 03-20-2010 09:16 AM

Quieter than stock with stock cats? That can't be true...

And seriously, what's taking you guys so long with vids? Man oh man

azn370z 03-20-2010 10:42 AM

I have stock cats and everyone knows stock cbe makes no sound at idle or when driven. Berk cbe has a very very soft rumble at idle and louder rumble around 3k rpm. And no drone on the highway.

dlmartin81 03-20-2010 10:47 AM

can someone plz post vids of cbe w/stoct cats?

I highly doubt we'll see one.

I mean its been a while since people have received their exhaust and not 1 decent video or soundclip, nothing.

I want this exhaust bad, unfortunately it's sold out.

If I had gotten this exhaust, from day one I would have posted a full in depth review, with sound clips from all angles, interior, db measurement results ect. but too bad I can't get a hold of one till April when Berk stocks them.
