What are some of the quietest exhausts?
Not looking to have any drone, or anything. I would mate it up with HFCs ... what do you all think who have heard it in person? Using youtube is a hard evaluation. So I am asking people with experience who have heard or seen in person different exhausts.

I'd say the invidia gemini is one of the more quiet ones.
|
BERK Cat back is too, would work great with the HFC.

if I just added HFC to the stock exhaust with the stillen g3 intake -- would I be leaving a lot of hp on the table ?
Cause the stock exhaust mated to HFC (that works right?) would probably my idle sound.. |
What are some of the quietest exhausts?
.....stock |

Stock exhaust with HFC is a pretty good combination. We have had a few people go back to stock exhaust+HFC after trying a CBE.

20 whp is a good amount.. I mean I would love to stay stock exhaust/hfc, but don't want to leave a good amount of power on the table.. |
Anybody have a clip of a stock exhaust with HFCs?
|
+1 on stock exhaust...LOL

Most people that dyno with the HFC's add the intakes before finally adding the CBE or simultaneously, so there arent too many independent tests with just stock intakes w/ HFC's/CBE

Also, on the subject of intakes, has anything new come out that's better than the stillen g3? |
I had the Invidia exhaust and HFCs and found the combination to be too loud with a drone around 2000 rpms. I now have the HFCs and a Tanabe Y-Pipe and the sound is just right. The HFCs and Y-Pipe remove the two most restrictive elements of the exhaust.

Ok…here is my 2 cents…
Out of the research I did, the Invidia Gemini was the quietest exhaust (with the exception of stock or Nizmo). I have heard the Stillen and FI intakes in person. The Stillen is only slightly louder and the FI is louder (a little deeper tone through more RPM range). If you are interested in ONLY buying a CBE for your car and you want the most HP for your dollar…then going with Stillen/Berk/FI would probably be the best idea because the Gemini does dyno a little less than those exhaust (maybe 5-8hp). The design sacrifices a little bit of the flow to make it a little more quiet. Here is my post - http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...omparison.html However, I bought the Gemini with the intention of putting it with a HFC and hoping to pair a system that would give good HP and not too loud. The FI CBE and HFC’s sound sick but it is a little too loud for my taste. Also, the Gemini is the only exhaust I know of that when paired with HFC’s doesn’t produce a hiss. The whole “Gemini puts down less power” thing is somewhat irrelevant though when you start stacking other hardware and get tuned. My dyno numbers are pretty damn good and prove it is a great system paired with HFC’s / CAI / Cobb Tune. Here are my numbers - http://www.the370z.com/tuning/15435-...ome-gains.html But here is the big thing…the term “too loud” is so freekn subjective and it really comes down to personal taste. Plus…everyone is going to say there setup up is the best (like I am doing right now). Least we can agree the 370z is the best! LOL…I am not sure what JPIT is talking about. I bought my Gemini from him used and don’t know why he thought the system was too loud. JPIT must be super sound sensitive. I mean the car is louder at WOT with the HFC’s on but regular driving is the same as when I had just the Gemini on. BTW dude…you live in NJ (I’m in Lanc. Pa). If you want to meet up and hear my car in person we can do that. You will be sold on the setup!! |

The whole exhaust question is a matter of personal taste very similar to taste in music. I would have to be bound and gagged to sit through a Metallica concert. I had the Berk HFCs already on when I installed the Invidia catback (which from a visual standpoint are very nice) and really wanted to like them. They are louder than stock especially when accelerating but what I really didn't like was the low rumble they produce (similar to a diesel truck) and the drone at 2000 rpms. I sold the Invidia to bluestyle55 and he really likes them which is great. I purchased a Tanabe Y-pipe and mid-range frequency sound the HFCs and the Tanabe produce (to me) is a much nicer sound.
