Yet Another FI Exhaust Review. 56k GG.

Hey Guys,

So along with the other 50 FI CBE reviews on this board, i will add yet another extremely positive review for the FI exhaust. I went with the 18" resonators and ss mufflers.

Quality: 10/10
Ever millimeter of the exhaust exudes high quality fit and finish. From the flanges and the welds to just the overall look and feel of the exhaust, every component is extremely high quality. I can see this thing lasting years and years without any problems. The fit is perfect as well.

Performance: 10/10
Right out of the Fast Intentions driveway the power gains were noticeable. Mid range is improved, throttle response is improved, and high end difference is the most noticeable. The car pulls so much harder at wot.

Sound: 9/10
At low revs it has a nice grunt but the best part is above 4k revs. From 4k to redline the car sounds like an exotic. No joke. I can't really describe the sound but it's very high pitched like an F1 car and it just goes crazy. Wow this thing sounds good. I've been getting about 10 mpg since the exhaust install due to driving the car so hard. It's addicting!!

Looks: 10/10
See pictures below. It looks amazing. This is how the car should have came stock from the factory.

Overall, I'm VERY happy and thanks to Tony for such a wonderful product. This one is definitely a keeper. For me, this setup is absolutely perfect for i feel that it is the perfect loudness for my taste. Thanks for looking!

Great review, thank you for the detail.

The exhaust looks great, but i know this because I installed it on your car. Do not hesitate to ask, if you need anything.

I look forward to seeing you in April at our Car Show...

Thank you, Tony

Nice review. thanks for posting. Just curious, do you have HFC? Also, which resonator(12" or 18") did you get?

thanks. looks good

EVL370 02-16-2010 05:15 PM

Does the 18" resonator give the exhaust a deeper tone then the 12"?? Everywhere I read just about everyone with HFC/RTP has the 18" resonator.

Does the 18" resonator simply sound better or is it the drone factor? Sorry just sometimes the simple questions are hard to find here...

My understanding is that the 18" is quieter, so people probably tolerate volume addition of the HFCs better. I'm sure Tony can comment for you though.

I'd recognize those uncomfortable Hot Rod stools anywhere... when are you going to get some real seats, Tony? My a$$ still hurts from sitting on there for four hours:p

In the last pic, It really doesn't look that low... even though it's at stock height.

Lower frequency sound has longer wave lengths. In basic logic the idea of the 18" is to reduce lower frequency noise than the 12". "Quieter" is simply a vague term based on how we hear. Reducing a lower frequency noise source may not sound quieter because our hearing is more sensitive to higher frequency noise.

Saying all that above.... I have the FI resonated test pipes with the 18" CF resonators and really like the sound.

Wow today was definitely one of those interesting days. The 3 day old exhaust with 60 miles is FOR SALE. You can read about it here:

http://www.the370z.com/parts-sale-pr...fect-cond.html

I am very disappointed that I have to let it go. It really made the driving experience so much more enjoyable but I have to do this. I will definitely miss the system and hopefully when i become successful and afford a client-only car I will definitely purchase another one. Thanks for all your kind words guys.

nogoodname 02-16-2010 09:16 PM

That totally sucks!!

tbonesteak 02-16-2010 09:17 PM

yeah tell me about it man...i was borderline crying on my commute home from work haha.

J/k I'll get over it

Good Luck tbonesteak :tiphat:

spearfish25 02-16-2010 09:38 PM

Give them earplugs? Or maybe invest in some Bose Noise Cancelling headphones and let them listen to classical music during the drive? Or buy a car to chauffeur people in during work and keep the Z with exhaust for personal affairs?

tbonesteak 02-16-2010 10:00 PM

yeah...the sad thing is, my lease on the work car just ended and due to the bad economy i am not able to afford a work only car at the moment.

nogoodname 02-16-2010 10:03 PM

I don't understand how these people you have to drive don't like the catback you just bought but they like the Z over a comfortable sedan or minivan..... .... missing something here...LoL

tbonesteak 02-16-2010 10:08 PM

well they don't LOVE the z....but the way i drive with them inside makes it okay. it's only the women who seem to have a problem with the exhaust. the men today either liked it or failed to comment HAHAA

agreed.. and in your FS thread you talked about buying wheels for the car, but in this thread you said you can't afford another car? **** dude go lease a nissan versa or something for ~200 a month to drive the old folks around in.

And if you dont mind me asking.. what kind of work do you do where you have to drive old people around?

tbonesteak 02-17-2010 09:35 AM

wheels don't affect the way a car rides. esp same size and same profile tires. take it for what it's worth man. i ain't gonna get no versa to carry multi millionaires dude. i'm a financial advisor in the biggest money pot city. Versa.....are you kidding me. only reason y the z let's me slide is because it's so new and looks nice that people think it's something it's not.

Thats a bummer bro. I know that you really enjoy the exhaust. It is by far our quietest option especially since you stayed with the stock cats!

I know that it is though, some people will complain no matter how quiet it is especially if it went from no sound at all to some. They do not understand nor choose to try and understand why you did it. They just hear it and to them it is noise, especially older people set in their ways.

Let me know if you ever want another one. You never know, you might find another line of work or business will be good enough to get a second car again. Hopefully you will still come to the show in April...

Thanks, Tony

tbonesteak 02-17-2010 10:00 AM

haha thanks Tony. You know i'll get another one. I just took such a big hit in my income through this whole economic crisis that the company won't create me a budget for a car like they did before. I just gotta figure out a way to get back up and Ill revisit you. Thanks for all your help.

dszombiex 02-17-2010 05:49 PM

Omg. Tbone, I'm shocked! I feel so bummed out that this happened to you. Your ride was pretty sick with this setup. Wow. I'm so sorry to hear this dude. :shakes head:
