HKS Centre Pipe Installed

Okay guys so i ordered the HKS centre pipe because i could source it here and i cant get other exhausts here in S.A for the same price.

First of all i have to say Nissan you should be embarrassed with the stock centre pipe! The amount of restriction is unbelievable and the pipe diameter increases and decreases its awfully done.

But the HKS quality was amazing and nothing less than spectacular. Fit was all of 45mins and not one problem!.

The Sound has increased on take off and is deeper but seems to go away after a while. But i do feel there is alot more power! And im not surprised with the restriction of thes stock exhaust.

Unfortunatley i never had a chance to get dyno'd before and after :shakes head:.

I will post video comparison later today for you guys.

Here is some pictures:

Awesome. Looks really good. All you need now is a exhaust and you're set! How about HKS rear section?

Ummmm im skeptical about the muffler as its the same price as the centre pipe as after seeing that video it doesn't sound appealing at all! Unless the video is just with the muffler and no centre pipe...

I think i might get something custom made.

Looking good!

I haven't even seen these pieces yet, they look very nice. What did they run? Any other vendors putting out front and midpipes yet??

alexpila 02-04-2010 03:37 PM

I took the car out again tonight and it has made a big difference in my opinion! Revs smoother through revs...

Here is a video comparison but the centre pipe in the video is cold and rasps abit until warm so i will make another video wen centre pipe is warm maybe tomorrow....

I never really minded the rasp, as long as my exhaust never had the "tin-like" sound of the e46 m3

Sounds nice

Anyone know if these parts are avail stateside? I looked at their site and didn't find anything. I wish more vendors would put out front and mid pipes already :-/

What do you guys think about the legamax muffler?? Anyone able to translate the video? Is it showinfg just the muffler or muffler and centre pipe??....

Anyone know of a company that i could get back boxes from? ARK , FI ? anyone???

I think HKS hi-power rear section looks better. Have you looked at fujimura auto rocket dancer exhaust rear section? That thing looks really nice.

I believe that our vendor 370ZTune sells them. All aces to 370Z Tune crew!

NYBladeZ 02-06-2010 09:23 AM

Did you by any chance measure the diameter of the HKS piping? 370ztune says it is 60.5mm which is less than 2.5in I wanted to know if it is less than or equal to 2.5

Unfortunately i never got to measure the diameter sorry..

Let my friend drive the car for me after street 2 strip event and wow the centre pipe makes a difference i must say it growls under acceleration!!!

alexpila 02-08-2010 01:10 PM

And i found they are much much loader when the cats are cold so i might go for a decat to keep the sound as i like it :driving:

The reason the car is louder when it's cold is because the ECU is bumping up the idle RPM by a good bit to help get the fluids pumping and warmed up quickly.

Blade, I think your GTHaus rear would sound sick with the HKS components.

The H-pipe is going to keep some depth... the **** will sound f***ing ridiculous man. :icon18:

I know it does that but wen you drive off it sounds much louder through acceleration as it used to have a rasp when cold as the cats got warm the noise decreases significantly...

Ah, gotcha. Thought you were just referring to the startup volume.

Hey Alexpila I think you may be able to help me bro. I recently damaged a portion of my HKS hipower exhaust over a terribly built speed bump about a month ago. Ive been so aggravated. I damaged the top h-pipe section of the exhaust with the bilateral flex pipes. I DESPERATELY WANT TO REPLACE THAT PORTION OF THE EXHAUST WITH A NEW FRESH PIECE AS SOON AS I CAN. Is that the same piece you replaced and if so where can i can I get that dude?
