Test Pipe Leak

Hello all,

I recently had a AMS resonated test pipe installed and have noticed potentially there may be a leak somewhere between the exhaust manifold and the pipe.

To eliminate the potential leak. Should i replace it the AMS supplied gaskets with Z1 Metal Manifold 3 Bolt Exhaust Gaskets and also add the OEM Exhaust Ring Gasket?

Your feedback is appreciated.

You can only add the exhaust ring gasket if your tests pipes were designed for it. The mating feature to the headers is different to accommodate it. There is a portion of tube extending past the flange (header side) which would indicate that u can use the ring gasket.

I recently installed Berk gaskets with a bit of high temp red RTV on each side with good luck. My Z1 tests pipes don’t accommodate the ring gasket.

Some people haven't had any issues with the Z1 gaskets, but for me and quite a few others, they leaked a short while after installing them. I've had good experiences with both the Vibrant and Berk gaskets in the past, and am now using the CZP eXtra thick gaskets which I would also recommend, but are a bit more expensive.

How do you know they are leaking though? Just curious. I have Berk test pipes and I only notice the VQ hiss.

Cold start the car with it jacked up. Reach around the gasket area and see if you feel exhaust gas coming out. You can only do this for so long before the exhaust gets hot and burns you tho. This method is the easiest to tell

You could also try and listen for it with a long piece of hose. One end to your ear and the other end to the various exhaust gaskets until you can figure out if there’s a leak.
