Exhuast Ideas?

Hey guys,

First time poster. I've had my 2014 370z (Base Sport) for about a year now. All I've done to the car (besides tint and regular maintenance) is added the Z1 CAI that goes through the radiator support (not needed to be cut).

I'm torn between the stillen, FI, and Invidia Gemini exhausts, though I'm leaning more towards the Invidia because I don't want to be overly loud. I daily my Z but would like just a tad more exhaust sound.

The CAI was installed by a tech at the dealer I work at, but the exhaust will be put on by a shop and then will be tuned. I live in the NOLA area.

Any suggestions for other mods? Any preference for exhaust with current/previous owners?

Stillens exhaust has been very quiet unless your on the gas and has had zero drone when cruising. FI sounds great but some say drone some say no. Can’t speak for invidia as I haven’t hear it.

I can only chime in about Invidia and say that it's loud enough when you want it to be, and silent enough when you're gentle. Also, I like the tone of it. If however, you want everyone to hear you whenever you step on it, then invidia is not for you, it's not *that* loud.

That's exactly what I'm looking for! Now from what I'm seeing, would it be better to get a full catback setup, or replace the cats with some Berk HFC? There's a huge price difference and I'm not sure if there's really any power difference between the two.

I went with a catback system (leaving stock CATs in) and I like it. You can always start with that (catback) and then proceed to add HFC if you think it's still too silent.

I will also say that once you install it, for the first 200km or so, it won't be as loud as it will once it's been "broken in", and after that the cold starts especially are quite loud.

I have the HKS Hi-power exhaust. Looks and sounds great. I love it's throaty tone. It's not super loud, but, you can hear it. No drone and the burnt tips look great!

You beat me to it. I love my HKS. No drone at all and quiet. Here's what it sounds like with a couple turbo's in front of it
Another short pull. Wanted to hear the exhaust note #specialtyz #fastintentions

Sorry to piggyback on this thread, but I am also starting to plan out an upgrade plan for my 2015. In the 8 years I've had it I too have only done routine maintenance, window tint, and Pilot 4S's.

Someone in my area is giving away the Nismo OEM exhaust in excellent condition. I like the sound of the engine from inside the cabin and do not want the exhaust to over power it. Mainly looking for something that will improve performance (for eventual SC build) without the obnoxious exhaust note.

The HKS above doesn't sound bad, but how much louder is it over the stock Nismo exhaust and will I hear much of it in the cabin? And then for hp/tq gains later on would it be much of a difference over the Nismo?

Just thinking that if there isn't much of a performance gain later on when the SC build is done, that I could save myself $2K and be happy with the Nismo OEM exhaust.

I did research on exhaust and found out most are made in 1 of 2 plants. I bought Beluga exhaust and love them! Made in the same plant as Tomei and various Jap exhaust. They sound 100 times better than almost every car in my city...even the vettes, camaros, etc. Nice rumble, some drone when you get on it, but nice low tone while cruising. Excellent quality. Still sound the same 3 years later. For what it's worth. Won't kill your bank account either.

I love my Nismo S-Tune. Quality and fitment is outstanding. Sound wise, certainly not the loudest, but DEFINITELY refined and let's you know it's there when you get on the gas. Came from a Tomei, which over time, just became too obnoxious and loud.

I have a hodge-podge system made primarily of the Nismo catback:

Non-res test pipes
Z1 H-pipe
OEM Nismo midpipe & muffler

I think its the perfect amount of sound, very subtle but zero drone and more on the quiet end of the spectrum. Highly recommend the Nismo, save yourself some $$$:
